Looks like I'll win these last 3 games here with USC, Memphis, and Kansas.

I'm bruised, but not busted. Got all my Final 4 and 7 of my Elite 8.

I don't care who wins as long as they beat carolina next round.

the memphis-nevada game isn't over by a long shit. memphis is overrated as shit.

I'm sure some of them probably have the holes going all the way so you should still be in good shape.

I dropped from first to 10th in my pool. Half of my Sweet 16 lost today (I also had Texas going to Elite Eight by beating UNC)

Texas in my final four, Wash St in my elite eight, Wisconsin, Va Tech, UVA, and Duke in the sweet 16, plus a lot of very close losses in the first round, so yeah, I'm pretty done

all I have to say is, USC's players had better play the game of their lives next week against UNC

me (in 1st place) and the second place guy have the exact same bracket from here on out, except I had UNC losing to Texas and Georgetown making it to the final 4

I blame GT and Arkansas

Wisconsin could have beat GT

and Texas coulda beaten Arkansas

but noooooo, GT and Arkansas had to suck it up from the start of the tourney

Yeah me either. A team that plays all freshmen and sophomores cannot go far. And they had nothing outside of Durant but Augustine.

Texas fucked mine up, but only for one more round. I had them beating UNC and then lossing to Georgetown. Other than that, I'm doing fairly well.

Does anyone know off-hand what the chances are someone would pick the entire bracket completely correct?

I know it has been calculated somewhere before.

^^well if it's completely random the odds are incredibly slim. 1/2^64 (if you count guessing the play-in game)

ie (5.42x10^-18)%.

^^that's assuming you pick each round only after the previous one is over isn't it?

no. that's making 64 random choices correctly.

[Edited on March 19, 2007 at 3:25 PM. Reason : i might be wrong. i dunno.]

yes, but the first round, you have a 50% chance to guess each game, in the second you have a 25% chance of guessing each one (1 of 4 teams), so wouldn't it be:

(.5^32) x (.25^16) x (.125^8) x (.0625^4) x (.03125^2)?

[Edited on March 19, 2007 at 3:45 PM. Reason : no play in game, assuming all teams are equal.]

Since there are 63 games to be
played, and you have two choices at each stage in your bracket, there
are 2^63 different ways to fill out the bracket.

2^63 = 9,223,372,036,854,775,808

That's more than nine quintillion possibilities.

Perhaps now you can see why CNNSI is so willing to give away ten
million dollars to the person that fills out a perfect bracket. It's
just not likely to happen.

Even if every person in America filled one out (300 million people),
the probability of someone winning is:

300,000,000
----------- = .00000000003253
2^63
"

^^no. you're still having to make 64 choices between two teams correctly. if you made the first round choices correctly, you'd only be choosing between two teams per game in the following round.

^that too.
