We shot 49.4% from the field last year. That number was good for 2nd best in the conference. The team has some good shooters, but more importantly the shot selection is miles ahead of what it was under Herb. 4/6/2007 10:49:25 AM |

^ Doesn't mean a thing if you can't rebound, % of possessions with points is what matters. I mean if you miss a shot get the rebound and score, you're 50% from the floor, or if you hit your first time, you're 100%, but it's still the same result, you still score. Same on the defensive end just flip flopped. 4/6/2007 10:52:29 AM |

stamina is key to rebounding 4/6/2007 1:26:26 PM |
BeerzNBikes All American 3736 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, and stamina shouldnt be an issue for once next year. We may have on of the strongest frontcourts in the ACC and I cant remember the last time I could say that. Rebounds shouldnt be our achilles heel either.
Our biggest potential season killer ~ lack of PG leadership. The battle for numero uno PG will be interesting next year. And I can only hope Hickson, Costner, McCauley and Smtih stay for at least two years so we can keep that solid Frontcourt and also have an experienced starting PG for the 2008/9 season that can run the offense as fast as Sid wants. 4/6/2007 2:00:05 PM |

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that year with a different coach and style of play. Comparing Ferguson's year and Degand's year is comparing apples to oranges.4/6/2007 2:16:37 PM |

^^ great point. Also fergie is a "ginger kid" and we all know about them.
DeGand and Johnston arent stupid ginger kids & are both way more athletic: which obviously adds to them having more potential than fergie.
Any news on Bartosz and us possibly taking his scholly for a real contributer? 4/6/2007 2:35:21 PM |

I'm not sure if there is a thread about this yet, but I saw that K-State's stud recruit Michael Beasley may open his search back up after Huggins bolted and he mentioned in an article on espn.com that Memphis, NC State and FSU were on his list. 4/8/2007 12:54:26 PM |

Florida and Ohio State each had at least three NBA players. Most of the time, the best team in the country has to be stacked with NBA talent. 4/8/2007 7:43:55 PM |

DraftExpress: Why did you pick NC State, given that they have a first year coach in Sidney Lowe?
Hickson: That’s one of the main reasons that I picked NC State, because he was a first year coach.. He played there, he won a national championship, so he knows what it takes to get there…the skills that it takes to get there. He knows what a team has to put together to get there. He pushes his players to work hard, and I’m trying to go there and be great.
DraftExpress: With you choosing NC State, were you looking for a school that you would have the opportunity to be one and done at?
Hickson: That could be a possibility. I’m not going there thinking I’m just going to be one year and done. I’m going in there with the right mindset of just working hard. Then if the right opportunity presents itself, I’ll talk about it with my family and my coaches and just go from there.

all this talk a/b hickson leaving after one year seems a bit premature. yeah i think it's more probable than not that he's here only one year, but i wouldn't count out another year or two from him. he's never said that he's a one and done. the second excerpt there obviously tells us he's obviously thought about it but the first quote makes it clear that he's got more on his mind than just the nba.

^^ Those announcers were terrible.
They were just blabbering on about random people not even involved in the game the whole time, and basically ignored the game. They almost seemed annoyed when they had to stop their conversation to acknowledge someone who just made an incredible play. I think they hired 3 color commentators and no play by play guys. 4/12/2007 2:38:56 PM |

Wilkins was pretty awful. i liked the way he hustled, but he had terrible handling skills, a mediocre jump shot, and couldn't pass worth poop. plus he had his family always chiming in. i mean, we made the tourney the year after he left, addition by subtraction. 4/14/2007 11:18:01 AM |
