"okay wtf why did we get switched from atlanta (the regional game in HD) to the pens/senators (the national game, NOT IN HD? WTF)

or maybe the local NBC SUCKS FUCKING BALLS

i just wanna watch a game in HD, i don't care which game it is

"

As a Rangers fan, I can't tell you how pissed I am about this. I'm having to watch standard def WNBC since it seems to be the only networkon the eastern seaboard not showing the Pens.

Since the Canes aren't in the playoffs, feel free to hop onto the Rangers bandwagon while there's still time.

The Sens-Pens game is in HD out here in CA... however there are DEFINITELY more fans of the Rangers nationwide than either of these two teams and I'm pissed I can't see it anywhere.. I'm trying to find it on SopCast but no luck..

Rangers game works on there! Score.. Thank you newyorkrangers.com message board.

Ah forgive him. It's not his fault he feels inferior psychologically and feels the need to punch his keyboard to put out insults cause he thinks it might make him feel better.

I don't think the Rangers game wasn't on because of the Rangers, I think it wasn't on because 1) They're playing the Thrashers and will probably either sweep them or win in 5 and 2) NBC is a whore for Crosby. I remember earlier in the season a 'canes/thrashers game wasn't on anywhere because they wanted to show more of Crosby. Its bullshit, but oh well.

The issue isn't really that it wasn't on. I kind of figured that would happen given the love affair with Crosby and the weird bond that Raleigh seems to share with Pittsburgh. My main gripe is that the Rangers pre-game was on, in HD, then all of a sudden they cut to a standard definition airing of the Pitt/Ott game. It was just retarded. As though someone decided at the last minute "you know what, lets just give then the Pens instead".

I actually like watching Buffalo play, but I wouldn't mind seeing them knocked out at all.

If we can get past the Thrashers, not having to play the Devils or Sabres would be wonderful.

Just tons of trash. There was a HORRIBLE phantom call for tripping on the Isles with a couple minutes left and them down by 1.

[Edited on April 16, 2007 at 10:54 PM. Reason : by the way have they said what the ratings for the weekend or any of the nights are yet?]

Quote :
"NBC earned a 1.4/3 overnight Nielsen rating for its national coverage of Flames-Red Wings Game Two yesterday, down 6.7% from a 1.5/4 for regional coverage during the opening Sunday of last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. The net’s regional coverage Saturday, which featured Penguins-Senators in the majority of the country, earned a 1.2/3 overnight, down 7.7% from a 1.3/3 last year (THE DAILY)."

And then this is more general

Quote :
"The Penguins continue to be a ratings smash on FSN Pittsburgh and have viewership that is among the best in the country for NHL and NBA games.

FSN affiliates carry 20 of the NHL franchises and the Penguins have the best ratings of any of those teams, which includes Detroit, a city often known as Hockeytown.

What's more, the Penguins ratings are higher than any of the 24 NBA teams FSN carries, as well as those of the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets.

The only NHL franchise that might have higher ratings than the Penguins is Buffalo, which is not in the FSN family.

The Penguins ratings numbers are the highest since the 1997-98 season."

Quote :
"The Sabres are higher. There are 8 teams that get better local ratings than the best NBA team (Toronto, Montreal, Buffalo, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, and Pittsburgh)."

Of course it's down. Instead of showing the New York Rangers and the Atlanta Thrashers, they decided to show a small market team and a Canadian team.

Great ratings decision. "Ratings smash" is a relative term for two sports that have crappy viewership.

And honestly, did they expect good ratings for Detroit/Calgary at 1pm when that's about 10am/11am local time in Calgary?

NBC only has themselves to blame.

The location of the Canadian team is irrelevant because NBC is only for the US. Whenever NBC or Vs. shows Pittsburgh and/or Buffalo they get their highest ratings. I would pretty much guarantee that both of those teams will be on anytime either network has the chance.
