Elite RB Elite WR Starter RB Elite QB Starter WR (1 and 2) Elite TE QB Elite Def Platoon RB/RB on crap offenses TE K Other WR Def 8/4/2007 1:53:34 PM |

I am in a Dynasty league.
In the upcoming draft, (that of course is only composed of incoming rookies), I have the first pick in the draft, and the third. Who should I take? I can sign the picks to four year contracts, so I have to be careful about a player busting and me being stuck with their salary.
I am thinking #1 Calvin Johnson, and #3 Adrian Peterson? Or maybe #1 Calvin Johnson and #3 Marshawn Lynch?

OK, I'm in a keeper league, w/ my keepers being Carson Palmer and Travis Henry. I don't know where I'll draft yet.....All the elite RB's are gone, but virtually all the elite WR's are still there (harrison only one taken I think). Scoring is pretty balanced between RB's and WR's.
Should I go for another RB to bolster Henry or an Elite WR if I can....... 8/7/2007 9:42:38 AM |

i'm having an argument with my friend about our league format...i say these should be the positions:
QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,T,W/R,K,DEF
he says
QB,RB,RB,WR,T,W/R,K,DEF
he says only 6 skill positions since there are 5 offensive lineman to make 11...i say that doesnt matter cause its fantasy and you should have 2 running backs, two receivers, a utility and a tight end

Alright gurus, which 2 out of 3 do you start.
Jericho Cotchery Isaac Bruce Bernard Barrian
I also have drew carter, arnaz battle, craig davis, and peerless price. Davis is a start now that Eric Parker is hurt. Battle is the 2nd san fran wideout if his foot heels. Price is Price (ass), and drew carter Probably wont get on the field without some help.

Favre.
Easier schedule, more threats at WR (Driver & Jennings) and he defense will put him in a position to where he has to throw to stay in games. Yes, he will get INT's, but he will have more TD's and passing yards than either of the other two.

this is the first year that i've taken the time to put together pre-draft rankings and scenarios before the draft... perhaps because last year i got killed by injuries (clinton portis and shaun alexander) and picking flops (muhsin was pretty awful last season). 8/12/2007 10:08:49 AM |

I am in a dynasty league, with the first and third picks in the all-rookie draft. That means I will get Calvin Johnson, and either Marshawn Lynch or Adrian peterson.
But some one just sent me a trade offering Larry Johnson for both first round picks. He he will be a free agent next year in our league. I can sign the rookies to four year deals.
Should I do the trade?
It would definitly give me a high probability of winning it all this year, and alot of my current starters will be FA's next, so a run at the title this year may be in order. My starters would be as follows:
Peyton-QB Willie Parker-RB Willis Mcgahee-RB Larry Johnson-FLex Colston-WR Reggie Wayne-Wr Todd Heap- TE Jeff Wilkins- K
That is pretty freakin unstoppable, but is it worth the two long-term keeper rookie's? 8/12/2007 4:10:31 PM |

I really like TE Vernon Davis this year... I think he will get a lot of balls thrown his way as Alex Smith's "security blanket" and playmaker as well.
I like McGahee now that he is the man in the Ravens ground game. 8/12/2007 6:29:41 PM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
Vernon Davis is solid, but the jury is still out on him as an NFL Pro. Yes, he ran a 4.3 40, and yes he had a TD in his first game....
but yes, he also broke is leg and he only played ~2 games last year. He has potential, but potential doesnt make a great Fantasy player. He will be good, dont get me wrong, but I wouldnt use a 4-6 rd pick on him.
As far as early revalations...the answer is no, but there are a few things to keep an eye on:
Chris Henry, not LenDale or Brown, took the first team reps in Ten's 1st preseason game. Tenn has a great O-line, and whoever gets the starting gig will be a great sleeper RB.
I absolutely agree that Deshaun is ranked too low. He will likely start the season as the #1 and if things start well for the Panthers, he could easliy keep the job until things take a turn for the worst. It will be a RBBC, but it remains to be seen if the split will be 50:50 or 70:30.
Hasselbeck is also underratted on Yahoo. If he slips to the 7th or 8th rd, you could have a nice starter, especially when many are falling in love with Leinart and Young.
Tatum Bell will be and remain the starter for the Lions in the 07-08 season. High risk considering the team he plays on, but a great #4 and could play his way into a solid #3 back. 8/12/2007 9:07:35 PM |

Is Kitna still limited, or will the Mike Martz offense have him explode this year?
Because alot of analysts are taking him as a sleeper QB of the year... but i think his INT's will supercede his TD's...
What does the guru think about Kitna as a backup QB? 8/13/2007 8:08:17 AM |
BoobsR_gr8 All American 30000 Posts user info edit post |
as a backup he will be excellent
his o-line has improved through FA acquisitions and of course johnson will help. he will throw INTs but he will have a better season than last year, I'll guess 28TDs 18INTS 8/13/2007 8:16:00 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
^ He asked for The Guru, not a Boob.
^^The first big question whn determining the value of a QB is "What is your scoring system?"
Any way you look at it, Kitna will be serviceable, but if your scoring system is set for something like 6 pts for a TD pass/20-25 yards passing per point/-2 for an INT, Kitna could easily be a top 6 QB.
Make sure you arent in some of the crazy leagues like one of mine that deducts points from the QB if he gets sacked or fumbles the ball. Most leagues deduct points if you lose a fumble, but often times you find leagues that deduct points if you lose control of the ball, even if you regain possesion. Things like that will make Kitna's value drop significantly since his O-line will remain average at best.
Also beware of the dreaded 50 passing yards per point. It's a Kitna Killer. 400 yards passing and 3 picks gets you a total of 2 points.
Basically, Kitna is the epitomy of a risk/reward draft choice. He will have games that leave you furious, but if the settings are in favor of the QB, he could also single handedly win weeks for you, so be sure to check the settings. Kitna will have to air it out this year to win, and with the addition of Calvin and a healthy Tatum Bell, their offense could be better than ever. Most Mocks right now have him going in the 5-7 rd range, and only rarely have I seen someone take him as a backup. He's a good starter with the potential to be great, and if he is your backup, you could have some major trade bait on your hands, especially after one of his signature 350 yds passing, 3 TD's 3 INT games.

what's your take on QB/#1 receiver combos from the same team....ie Manning and Harrison or Palmer and Johnson.....what about QB/#2 receivers? Potential is there, but too many eggs in one basket?
Also, "handcuffing" RB's, what do ya think? 8/13/2007 10:53:56 AM |
AxlBonBach All American 45550 Posts user info edit post |
^^ Completions (0.5) Passing Yards (50 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (4) Interceptions (-2) Rushing Yards (12 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Receptions (1) Reception Yards (20 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (5) Return Yards (20 yards per point) Return Touchdowns (7) 2-Point Conversions (3) Fumbles (-2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (2) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4) Field Goals 50+ Yards (6) Point After Attempt Made (1)
So yeah, Kitna pretty much becomes a backup in this sort of role. Vince Young sounds attractive though, with this being a run-dominated sort of league. 8/13/2007 11:18:37 AM |

My league moved to Defensive players from team defense this year. Scoring for defense is as such:
Tackle Solo (1) Tackle Assist (.5) Sack (2) Interception (2) Fumble Force (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Pass Defended (1) Block Kick (3)
12 team league, 3 defensive player slots played.
