^Ohio stadium becomes the 4th most populous on game day, and Nebraska has no fucking cities worth talking about... so while it sounds cool, it doesn't mean shit.

It really isn't getting bigger. They are just adding two towers to each side to bring in luxury suite and club seat money. To do this though they have to remove a fair amount of seats. That's why it will only result in a net gain of 500 seats. The main thing the renovation will do is make the stadium more fan friendly.

I think "toughest places to play" would mean that the home team has a high winning percentage at home. Not sure if Clemson can boast that against quality opponents

While I agree that winning percentage can be taken into play when considering toughest places to play, it isn't always a good indicator of how the tough the crowd can be on the opposing team. Look no further than Miami and the Orange Bowl, UNC and the Dean Dome, etc. A team with outstanding talent, but terrible fans can still put up a high winning percentage in their home stadium/arena.

yeah i would rate the Deam Dome the easiest place to play, but some years they have talent(makes it tough then)

I would never rank it the easiest place to play, but it is certainly not on the level that State, Maryland, and Duke are in terms of how tough the crowd is on the opposing team, and the setup of the student section. I don't even know if the Dean Dome beats UVA's JPJ arena now.

JPJ is a nice arena, but uva fans are like unc fans they tend to sit on their hands alot during games.

Yeah, but at least their student section has a better setup. I read on some UNC guys blog that UNC gives out 6,000 student tickets for basketball games. I thought to myself, there's no way in hell do they have 6,000 students in there.

Also another relativly tough place to play is the university of Washington's Huskie stadium. Of course since they have fallen on hard times its not been recently but 5-10 years ago that place would rock.

Husky Stadium is still tough. Over 70% of the seats are located between the end zones, and the overhanging shelters bounce the noise straight down onto the field. I'd put it in the top 25. I hear WVU is one of the toughest places to play at in the Big East, but when I've watched WVU on TV, it didn't seem too much different than Carter-Finley. A loud stadium, but not Florida and LSU type loud.

playing basketball at Miami's stadium is probably pretty easy, i remember when State played them last season they had maybe 15 students in their student section....then we lost (if i remember correctly)

"I went to the RBC Center. With a student section surrounding the court, the intensity of the crowd could be heard even on television. No doubt, based on some of the quotes from players like Hansbrough and Lawson, the noise from the student section gave the Wolfpack a considerable advantage and helped them to get a win against our 3rd ranked team."

Southern Cal has to be top 5 because they have the longest home winning streak. The other one that no one has mentioned is Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC. App State hasn't lost a game there in 4 years, which is the second longest home winning streak.

Yeah that's not the official nickname, in fact I don't even think Neyland really has a widely used nickname. I have seen a few Tennessee fans call it Rocky Top though.

depends on what they were referring to but its not a physical place (well, the Rocky Top in the song is, but it doesn't have anything to do with the campus or stadium), its more the general area/atmosphere etc, not a specific place. So I guess technically they wouldn't be wrong but it would be like saying "welcome to the superbowl", its not the actual stadium but more the overall "event"

I nominate SC, Washington, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Syracuse, WVU, NCSU, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Alabama, South Carolina, Iowa, and Georgia to be next in consideration for spot 14-25. Once we get these ranked we can move on to college basketball, then NFL stadiums. Maybe even do Premiere League stadiums for all the soccer fans out there.

miami is not even close to one of the toughest places to play...the orange bowl is only full for FSU, it's notoriously one of the worst crowd draws in college football.

i would think Notre Dame would be up there though

oh and i dont think that picture of empty, unpainted death valley does it justice, so here's a better one
