I don't think there are many marriages that have taken place with "no credible evidence of a romantic relationship." In other words the evidence of a romantic relationship is the marriage itself." |
I'm assuming that there was "no credible evidence of a romantic relationship" while they were at the school. Who the hell knows what they did outside of school hours.7/11/2007 6:34:29 PM |

BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- The parents of a 16-year-old student who married her teacher have filed a second lawsuit. This one is against the Guilford County School District. That's where 40-year-old Brent Wuchae worked before coming to Brunswick County.
Wuchae was a teacher and coach at South Brunswick High School until he resigned last month and married 16-year-old Windy Hager.
Hager's parents have already filed a lawsuit against the Brunswick County School Board.
The new lawsuit claims the Guilford County School District let Wuchae continue to work despite several inappropriate relationships with female students. 7/25/2007 10:19:32 AM |

Bolivia — A 16-year-old girl who married her 40-year-old former teacher cannot force her parents to return her Beanie Baby collection, a PlayStation video game console and other belongings, a judge ruled.
Windy Wuchae filed a lawsuit against her parents, Dennis and Betty Hager, for items valued at more than $1,000 that her parents kept after she moved out to marry Brenton Wuchae, her cross-country coach at South Brunswick High School.
Magistrate Deborah Ramphal dismissed the case, but said the teenager could appeal.
Brenton Wuchae resigned his teaching and coaching position in June on the same day he married Windy. The couple now works at a Food Lion grocery store in Oak Island, where both the Wuchaes and Hagers live.
Robert Tatum, an attorney for the Hagers, said Windy's property and earnings belonged to her parents because they were obtained before she was emancipated. The Hagers reluctantly signed consent forms allowing the marriage.
"The case was dismissed as a matter of law because all of the items belong to her parents," Tatum said after the hearing Wednesday. Both couples declined comment.
The Hagers have also filed lawsuits against two school systems. One accuses the school board in Guilford County – where Brenton Wuchae worked before moving to Bruswick County – of failing to alert authorities that he had inappropriate relationships with female students at Southern Guilford High School.
The second lawsuit accuses the Bruswick County school system of failing to adequately investigate Wuchae. School officials have said they found no evidence of any romantic relationship and put limits on Wuchae's contact with Windy." |

Quote : | "Mistaken Arkansas Law Would Let Toddlers Wed
By ANDREW DeMILLO Associated Press Writer
Posted: 33 minutes ago
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A law passed this year allows Arkansans of any age - even infants - to marry if their parents agree, and the governor may have to call a special session to fix the mistake, lawmakers said Friday.
The legislation was intended to establish 18 as the minimum age to marry but also allow pregnant teenagers to marry with parental consent, bill sponsor Rep. Will Bond said. An extraneous "not" in the bill, however, allows anyone who is not pregnant to marry at any age if the parents allow it.
"It's clearly not the intent to allow 10-year-olds or 11-year-olds to get married," Bond said. "The legislation was screwed up."
The bill reads: "In order for a person who is younger than eighteen (18) years of age and who is not pregnant to obtain a marriage license, the person must provide the county clerk with evidence of parental consent to the marriage."
A code revision commission - which fixes typographical and technical errors in laws - had tried to correct the mistake, but a group of legislators said Friday the commission went beyond its powers.
"You're either pregnant or you're not pregnant," Sen. Dave Bisbee said. "Rarely will that be a typographical error."
The Arkansas Legislative Council asked the independent commission to reverse its correction. Several lawmakers said a special session may be necessary.
"We need a special session to fix this," Sen. Sue Madison said. "I am concerned about pedophiles coming to Arkansas to find parents who are willing to sign a very young child's consent."
Before the new law took effect July 31, girls could get married with parental consent at 16 and boys at 17.
The Legislature formally adjourned its session in May and is not scheduled to meet again until January 2009, unless Gov. Mike Beebe calls a special session." |
