dang. haha good posts.
so ive been curious about people who've replaced floors, or boats that need a new one.
whats the deal? the flooring is pretty straightforward isnt it? i mean, you can just lay something down and call it a day right?

i redid the floor in mine. just got some 1/2" PT and some stainless wood screws. cut it to fit contours and shit, drill a pilot hole, screw it down. get some marine carpet (don't fuck with the indoor/outdoor shit because it'll dry rot in a year, i learned the hard way), staples, and 3M spray adhesive and go to town.

i would jump all over this:

trailer looks like shit, but you won't be pulling it far anyway. a v-hull like this will be a lot more stable and split a little chop better. a lot better suited to the sound than a true "jon" boat 4/27/2008 7:23:21 PM |

nice i like the 2nd link.
but 17feet looks a bit big. we already have a crownline boat that we use for cruisin. its an 18ft one and i just dont want to see 2 boats that big there. i really want a 12-14ft one that i can just keep at the beach. we keep the crownline there for the summer and bring it back when we arent using the house. but this jon boat i can keep for as long as i want there. 4/28/2008 6:05:37 PM |

150 is HUGE, i have a 125 on my 19 foot BAYLINER bass boat
and its big for it really
theres no way you would want something over 50 hp on a jon boat, even that would be a lot

id love to have those two 150's though, or even the 200

unless they've been ground off, the boat will have a coast guard plate or sticker that tells the max. horsepower. probably around 50-70 for the 18' and maybe 30 for the 14'
i wouldn't go in the sound in that 3'x14' though. hell, i wouldn't even put that thing in the neuse at new bern. 5/23/2008 5:15:59 PM |

ok, so if things go as planned, im hoping can get this side console jon boat for next to free.
it was laying around in this guys land, i took a look at it and contacted the owner of the land. it was a repo boat, so there is no title for boat nor trailer. but it had a motor on it, trolling motor and thats all i saw, it had a cover on it also. it def. was not in the best of shapes, trailer tires were flat and stuff, so you know its been sitting.
now, the guy i talked to on the phone mentioned we could work something out, and i flat out told him that honestly i dont think its worth a price, but maybe some bartering. he's agreed to go look at it with me and make a deal.
suppose to go tomorrow, hopefully it doesnt rain too bad while we are there. i just wanna pick that thing up and bring it home and get to working on it.
ill take the camera and snap some pics.
