According to So. Baptists, the word 'wine' had a different meaning back then. It was just grape juice. Plz note: this is just about the only thing they choose not to take literally from the Bible.
You decide.8/14/2007 9:42:47 AM |

no no, your right... baptists believe in dancing or drinking promote promiscuity and poor choices and therefore should be avoided.8/14/2007 9:49:12 AM |

I have encountered this arguement.
Me: well jesus' first miracle was turning water INTO WINE at a wedding Them: BUT IT WAS UNFERMEnTED WINE Me: OOHHH UNFERMENTED WINE, YOU MEAN JUICE? Me: I'm sure they would have said juice instead of wine8/14/2007 10:19:41 AM |

Go to a mormon wedding. Thats an interesting experience. There was no drinking, no music, and no dancing.
Throw 100 random people in a room with some crackers and thats pretty much how awkward it was for 4 hours. 8/14/2007 10:50:55 AM |

I had a Mormon wedding and there was no drinking, yes music, and yes dancing... so you got one out of three right (in our case at least).
^Yeah. Got married in D.C. and we had a ring ceremony a week later in a local chapel for all the family that couldn't go to the wedding in the temple.

Don't you have to have security at the wedding, if you serve alcohol and the wedding is at a public place (park, etc...)? 8/14/2007 11:38:14 AM |

reminds me of the old joke:
Q: what's the difference between a baptist and a catholic?
A: a catholic will speak to you when you see him at the liquor store.
or something like that 8/14/2007 6:40:10 PM |

My sister is getting married in december and its going to be a dry wedding. It was going to cost an extra $2500 if there was alcohol because she would have to have a security guard for every 50 or so people. And the wedding is at a winery of all places 8/14/2007 6:49:24 PM |

Man, a dry wedding at a vineyard. I would have chosen a new venue. That is the one place people will expect a wedding with a bar. 8/15/2007 12:47:32 PM |

i think you should do what the majority of people, including you and your bridge/groom want
if both of your families are very strict religious folks (or whatever) and none really drink, then sure go for the dry wedding
if you and your fiancee and their families enjoy a few drinks at such a celebratory time, then dont have a dry wedding
just dont fuck over the 90% of the people at your wedding (including you and your bride/groom) just because 1 of the 500 guests is an alcoholic 8/17/2007 12:50:49 PM |
