Radiohead
Sufjan Stevens
Arcade Fire
Andrew Bird

honorable mention: Midlake... they need one more album to make the list for me, and New Pornographers.

Grandaddy would've made the top 4 had they not decided to split up this past year.

This is not my favorite list of all time, but 4 current bands.

those 3 are pretty constant

#4 is a tossup between The Beatles, The Rakes, Minus the Bear, Sufjan Stevens, Arctic Monkeys, and Cursive

BRMC are fucking dickholes.

I mean, seriously, why would you count them in one of your favorite bands when you could just name one of the other bands (Ride, Stone Roses, et cetera) of whom they are so conspicuously derivative.

yea! i like them a lot too, and personally overall more than braid, just happened to be what was top on my playlists this weekend hehe. but surely texas is the reason, and 'clarity' era Jimmy Eat World usually end up in my rotation when i got on a binge of 'this' style of music

speaking of which, wtf how have i never ran across "The Fire Theft" before?

^good list
good news for people that love bad news is easily my favorite album of theirs
their older stuff is pretty awesome, and I like their newest cd too, but good news is pretty epic for them

^Agreed. Good News had the best MM songs that never got that popular... Satin in a Coffin is great, and The View is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Devil's Workday is nice, if you like seeing a dark feel put into a big band type of sound.
