I dunno. I got three vouchers from umbrellaman and I've sent you and bbehe at least one voucher, maybe two. You don't show up as someone with Metroid Prime 3 save data on my Wii either.

So I've been playing about 2.5 or so hrs each night and this game still continues to amaze me. The feeling of exploration you get is amazing.

***SPOILER***
I just enountered the first metroids and holy shit that entire part of the level was just fucking creepy as hell. I knew they were gonna be coming when I opened the door and there was a dead space pirate that had turned into ash. All the scans of the other ones said stuff about how their energy had been completely sucked out of them.

If they ported System Shock 2 to the Wii with the metroid controller scheme (think the psi amp would be perfect for the nunchuck) I would so fucking get it

^That would be awesome, but I imagine that just about any fps would fucking rock with the Metroid-style controls. Imagine if they remade Goldeneye or Perfect Dark for the wii. No more having to enter targeting-mode to aim your gun, aim on-the-fly as you run or strafe or whatever.

^^Yeah that part was nicely done.

How about some of you people add me to your friend list so that I can trade vouchers with you? bbehe and Wraith, you're on my list, but it won't let me trade until I'm added to your respective lists.

Has anybody tried playing on the hyper-mode difficulty? I just finished up on veteran. Enemy weapons hurt about twice as much as on standard and your weapons are about 50% weaker, but it's not that much harder.

Just checked, didn't get them. It doesn't even say you have MP3 save data. There could be some lag on the notifications though.

Goddamn hyper-mode is HARD. Enemies' weapons deal murder, but my weapons barely do shit. I just finished killing the boss of Bryyo. I haven't died yet and the closest I've come to dying was having just a third of a tank of energy left, but it takes a lot longer to kill the bosses now. Going to hypermode sucks up energy at a really fast rate but isn't nearly as potent as on the lower difficulty levels, so even when I've got good aim the boss's health only goes down about one quarter for every one energy tank I have to use.

One thing I didn't know is that you get yellow tokens for killing bosses on this difficulty setting, even if you already got them previously on a lower difficulty. I suppose it's a way to earn up more tokens so that you can purchase more of the extras and shit.

I've made it to the third world and am almost ready to go fight its main boss.

I'm going to have to retract my previous assessment of hyper-mode a little bit. It's not "hard" per se, just that battles take noticeably longer. As long as you've got the enemies' patterns down and are good at shooting while dodging and strafing, you can make it work. I've had a couple of close calls, but I still haven't died yet. But I'm concerned about the next sequence that I have face because a lot of these pirates have so much health that it's starting to regularly take me a full energy tank of hyper mode just to knock of their armor.

One thing that REALLY helps on this difficulty is that you have to make the most efficient use of hyper mode possible. Remember that you are invincible while in hyper mode, so don't worry about trying to dodge attacks; focus solely on pounding the enemy mercilessly. Deliberately allow yourself to go into corrupt hyper mode, because then your phazon will recharge. Try not to empty out the phazon bar completely, or you'll exit prematurely, and even when you become corrupt you've still only got ~20 seconds before your suit automatically vents (but remember not to let your bar climb all the way either, or else you die). But for that brief time you are invincible, so make the most of it. And whore out the charge shots, because the machine-gun functionality is useful for dealing out a shit ton of damage in a short amount of time.

Other than maximizing hyper mode use, does anybody have any suggestions or have found useful strategies? One useful strategy I found is for the metroid hatchers. Before I was just firing like crazy to hit their tentacles, but it occurred to me recently that it's a hell of a lot easier if you use seeker missile instead. The tentacles tend to move around a lot, so the missiles aren't guaranteed to connect, but it's a lot easier than trying to score pin-point accuracy with regular shots.

Another thing that really helps out in boss battles is that you can shoot their projectiles, and they will occasionally drop energy for you. So if you're low on health move around until they start firing projectiles at you, then try your best to hit them. Use charged shot to suck in the goodies. Do this enough times and you can regain back a good amount of health.

for 2 of the 3 hatchers (as well as a number of regular enemies) you can use the xray visor to hit their weak spot for massive damage

i can't stop playin this shit. and is it just me or are the graphics awesome? at first i was like ehh but since i've gotten the plamsa beam and the x ray visor i just can't believe the level of detail on some of the shit. still not ps3 or 360 graphics but i think it does say a lot about the actual power of the wii/gamecube architecture esp if nintendo were to up the output to 720p or 1080i .

Graphics were good. Obviously very similar to the previous two MPs and not a significant improvement, but there were a few moments that I stopped and just looked around a bit. Anytime I was in a Leviathan seed I kept looking around, especially in those connecting tunnels. The transparent walls and flow behind them was very cool.

The last planet was nice too, but sadly I was a little too rushed to get through there and didn't look around much. I wish Bryyo Ice had been bigger.

Anyone know if you unlock anything for 100% scans or beating the harder difficulties? I plan to try veteran difficulty later, but dunno if I want to try hyper if there's no incentive beyond the bit of pride you'd get for completing it.

^I'm playing hyper now. You get yellow tokens for beating the bosses, but so far that's about it.

And HOLY HELL THE BOSS OF THE THIRD PLANET IS HARD. I died twice before I finally killed him, and even then I was down to my last energy tank. I'm sure that the battle went on for at least 15 minutes (but most of that was me dodging and trying to get energy pick-ups, only to lose twice what I would have gotten because I got hit). On standard he wasn't a challenge at all and on veteran he was a bit of a workout, but hyper is something else entirely. The first phase of the fight isn't too bad, but he will rake you across the coals during the second phase, and goes absolutely apeshit during the third phase. His attacks deal serious punishment, and if you can't dodge them you WILL die fairly quickly. And there's only a couple of places on his body that will do any damage, so your accuracy needs to be top notch. This by far has to be the most difficulty I've had with the game yet.

Finally beat it on hyper mode. The final boss fight is ridiculously insane, but thankfully it gets a little easier near the end. Prepare for spoilers.

First you fight Dark Samus. The first portion of that fight is okay, but then she'll do this thing where she'll make clones of herself, so you're basically getting double and triple ass-raped. Dodging DS's attacks is one thing, but trying to dodge three of her? That's fucking hard. One tactic you can try is to try screw-attacking into them. I had mixed results with it, but I'm not very good at hitting moving targets with it. But it can kill a DS clone in one hit, and more importantly you're invincible for as long as your do it. Their weapons will hurt you pretty bad, but destroying the clones or the phazon crystals she'll send crashing to the floor will occasionally produce health. Make sure you grab that health whenever you can; you're not only taking damage from her weapons, you're also slowly losing health.

IF you can manage to survive all of that, then you get to fight Aurora Unit 313 (but I'm sure that you saw that coming, as well as the fight with Dark Samus). Thankfully its attacks are much easier to dodge, and every time you destroy one of those tentacle things, it will drop a little bit of health for you. Sometimes 313 will also make DS clones, but it does nothing while they mainly fly around, so you don't have to worry too much about getting pounded from all sides. Kill them if you can, because they will drop a little bit of health for you. 313 also has this eye-beam attack thing that's super easy to not get hit by, but if you do manage to get hit your phazon bar will climb through the roof. All in all I started this fight with about 5/6 phazon bar, and by collecting stray health alone I managed to get back down to at least 1/3.

Once you do enough damage, 313 will separate from its spine and begin flying around. Again, it's attacks aren't too hard to dodge, but this time health isn't anywhere to be found. Try your best to stun it and then hit its weak spot. I managed not to get hit by the four lasers it shoots out while it spins around; the trick is to stand underneath it and try to follow its movements. You'll also be standing directly beneath its weak spot, so you should be able to get a few stray shots in.

In closing, it was a really tough fight, but it's not impossible. Remember that charged hyper shots are your best friend. Oh, and there's no new endings or other rewards for beating the game on hyper mode, you just get more yellow tokens. Unless you really want to be able to afford all of the extra shit or you're just itching for a decent challenge, I doubt that it's worth playing the game on this difficulty level.

Did any of you guys notice that the more corrupted Samus gets, the more you can tell from the reflection of her face in the visor? At first you just see her eyes and face like normal, but as you get more corrupted a big blob of phazon grows on her face and her eyes get really bright.

Finally got around to beating it

SPOILERS
I was disappointed with the final boss battle, I would expect Dark Samus to be a lot harder. I was also expecting some kind of explanation of Mother Brain too but it didn't really say anything. The ending was a little bit of a let down, I was hoping it would lead more into Metroid II since the Prime trilogy was supposed to be set between the first two games.

The ship that follows Samus at the end I believe is one of the bounty hunters from Metroid Prime: Hunters. I'm not really sure why they put that in there.

Does anybody want some vouchers? I've got about 14 or so left over from another game file I started and I've got nothing to do with them. I've already bought all of the extras, so it's not as if I need to trade with anybody. I was just planning on deleting that file, but if anybody wants my vouchers I'd hate for them to go to waste.

As you play the game and perform certain tasks, you may have noticed that you will be rewarded with special tokens (eg yellow tokens after killing a boss, red after scanning a new creature, blue after scanning a lore entry). Some of those tokens are called friend vouchers. You can send these vouchers to anybody on your friend list, provided that you're on their friend list as well. When somebody sends you a friend voucher, you can convert it into a friend credit. You can then use the friend credit to help "buy" something in the extras menu. You can't send yourself vouchers (as far as I know), so if you absolutely want to unlock all of the extra stuff you have no choice but to find somebody to trade with.

So it basically works as such:

1) you and a buddy play the game and earn friend vouchers
2) you then exchange vouchers with one another
3) when you get a voucher, the game will ask how many of those vouchers you want to convert to friend credits
4) profit

You can see how many of each token you've got in the pause menu. Select the "Samus" menu and then click on the icon that looks like a lightening bolt going through a circle. You'll see an overview of all the yellow, red, and blue tokens you've earned, as well as how many friend vouchers (gray) and friend credits (green) you've got.

And fyi, there's another game file I totally forgot about, so that's like another 20 or so vouchers that I've got. If anybody wants them, just say so and I'll send you a bunch.

****SPOILER****

One thing i noticed about this game is the special "awards" you can get (sorry if they have been discussed before). You get notices for all boss and mini-boss kills. You get them for other things like every 100 kills (up to 1000 I believe). There are other special ones, though. I remember 2 of them.

If you use the Boost Ball to kill 3 or more robots in the sky level, you get something called "Bowling for Bots".

On the first planet, there are reptiles with Boomerangs. You can damage them heavily then wait for them to fire the boomerang. Fire the Ice missle to free them. The boomerang will come back and shatter them. Its called something like "Reptirang".

No idea how many other ones there are.

^I think it's called "Icy Repcicle" or something to that effect.

You'll also earn one if you can set any aerotrooper on fire and then use the grapple lasso to rip his jetpack off.

You'll also earn one for each 100 enemies you kill, all the way up to a 1000.

There's also a way to earn one at the very beginning of the game. When you first land on the GFS Olympus, you'll notice two target things to the right of the first pair of guards. The objective is to shoot at one of the targets and keep shooting it in mid-air. Make it bounce in the air 10 times and you'll get a yellow credit, but make it bounce in the air 20 times and you'll get a friend voucher. You can ONLY do this at the very beginning, because you won't be able to visit this portion of the Olympus once you move far enough into the intro.

Another one you can earn is supposedly on Norion. When you have to go activate the second generator, you'll have to move through a tunnel, but as you move through it you'll get harrassed by Ridley. From what I've heard, if you can make it through the tunnel without losing any health whatsoever, you'll get a friend voucher. I can't confirm this for myself because I've never been able to do it. It's too goddamn hard imo.

^ You covered the "bowling for bots" one, but there's another one that you can earn that's also on Elysia. There's this bridge that you have to cross, but there's this series of gates that you have to pull apart to advance. Along the bridge are some steam bots and a steam lord. Don't bother trying to fight them, just move past them. Rip off the final gate and the bridge behind you will collapse, taking the steam bots along with it. You'll get a "stylish kill" friend voucher this way.

There're some more that you can earn, but I don't completely feel like listing all of them out and I don't want to give away too many spoilers.
