^^^wade being hurt for the last 30 games of the regular season and playoffs this past year has heavily influenced people's perception of his game.

kobe is definitely the best player in the league. and its not really close. other than that i think wade/lebron are 2 and 2a. then nash and duncan.

I'd simply say Nash is the best point guard, Kobe is the best wing player, Duncan is the best big

I'd say Kobe is the best overall but comparing Nash to Kobe to Duncan is almost like comparing Roger Clemens to Barry Bonds...they do different things

i did think 40 whatever points was kind of low for one half since we've been putting up like 120 / game

come on, i don't troll!

i'm dead serious. they didn't look good at all against brazil. run up the floor and either miss a 3 or mess up an alley oop. then let brazil run into the lane whenever they wanted. =/

if they're winning every game by 40 points can't they afford to play a little lax defense? they still have the ability to turn it up whenever they need to

i mean theres still potential for failure but i think this is the best team we've put out in years

^ i'd still rather they play for real everytime out.

this isn't the meaningless nba, this is a recently underperforming team usa in a game that we created.

we did and we also tought the rest of the world to significantly improve their games

but if you're up by 60 points you don't really need to dive into a crowd of cameras, for example

i mean if its a blowout in any sport you basically put in scrub players...we dont really have any scrubs, but we also have blown out most teams

i'm as disappointed as anyone at our efforts over teh last few olympics / world games but this team is different

all i'm saying is, so far it looks like a bunch of really good basketball players playing pickup basketball, which is what we've had before.

maybe it's different, but thus far i'm not convinced.

well only time will tell

but this year we're not satisfied with a couple superstars and a bunch of semistars...we literally have a team of superstars...and i'm no duke fan but i respect K as a coach and i think he really cares about winning this...also in past years superstars like kobe passed up on team invites whether to have more free time or avoid injury or whatever...but this year guys like that seem to really want to win...and say what you will about kobe...he doesnt like to lose

In general, we are playing good basketball to get up to the 20 point lead. After that, its cruise control. The other team is demoralized and not even trying.

The original Dream Team won the gold by an average margin of victory of 44pts.

The current team USA is winning by an average of 39 points against SA teams.

Is the current competition facing Team USA comparable to the '92 Olympics?

Considering the international competition at the olympics will be much tougher than it was in '92, what margin of victory will it take to put the current team on par with the original team?

I would say this team now has a comparable starting 5 but it would be the depth that would kill the new team.

starters:

kidd - magic
kobe - Jordan
Lebron - bird
melo - malone
howard - robinson

but the bench :

chancey, miller, prince, amare, deron will, redd, chandler

vs

stockton, pippen, drexler, mullin, barkley, ewing, laettner

Call me stupid, but I would take every single starter on the right over the one on the current team on the left. And some are not even close. Karl Malone is probably the best PF ever and Kidd is good but not Magic good. Kobe I won't even touch that one.

if we won every game by 100 it wouldnt be good enough for some people cause of name recognition of the first dream team..the players on the current team are elite players but people dont follow the NBA enough to realize that

^yeah...Michael Sweetney, Robert "Tractor" Traylor, Kevin Duckworth, etc

Talent wise, the original team was better. But Kobe, Melo, and James are more athletic that anyone on the original team other than maybe Jordan (and of course the perfect physical specimen also known as Laettner).

I would love to see this match up:

Quote :
"kidd - magic
kobe - Jordan
Lebron - bird
melo - malone
howard - robinson"

I'd take Magic over Kidd. Jordan has a slight edge over Kobe in my mind but that would be awesome to watch. I don't think Bird could guard Lebron but then again, Lebron couldn't guard Bird (or he just doesn't play good D). Malone's size and mid-range jumper over Melo but Melo is a freak athlete. And Robinson over Howard.

The bench of the '92 team would make the difference.

The '92 team played Barkley more than Malone, and Barkley was probably the MVP of that team. He led the team in scoring. So the starting lineup would probably be

Magic
Jordan
Bird
Barkley
Ewing/Robinson

But you would probably see both Malone and Pippen more than Bird in a game. Bird's career ended in 1992, because his back was in shambles. His getting the start would mostly just be a token gesture. And Pippen could guard LeBron. He wouldn't shut him down, of course, but he would give LeBron fits.
