Tasering may have been a bit much, but its clear that he was just asking stupid questions hoping to back Kerry into a corner. It wasn't political discourse by any means and they had every right to cut his mike and ask him to leave.

I was confused over his fiasco... So their intention was to arrest him??? I don't think that was their initial intentions. They probably just wanted to get him out of there because his comments were not appreciated. If they were really going to arrest him for saying some words, then it would have been wrong. But, it's not against your rights if someone forces you to GTFO and you refuse to do so. If you end up being hurt then I say that's your fault for not getting out.

I think both parties deserve a slap on the hand. End of story.

problem here is A: He asked y he was being arrested in the officers never told him his rights or said anything, just said he was resisting arrest.

THIS IS ILLEGAL

the police were totally out of line, he was not a threat, he was not disruptive.

the fact of it is the people in charge of the debate didnt want him around, decided to cut the mic after "allotted time" and then remove him. fine, ask him to leave but if its an open debate, u cannot force him to leave unless he is doing something illegal. he did nothing illegal, show me one instance in the film where he did something illegal before they tried to remove him

then before saying sir come with us or trying to get him to leave, they put their hands on him........his reaction is not resisting arrest.

as soon as the taser came out in the beginning, officers were planning to taser him without a threat being recognized.

the whole process could have been avoided if the police actually performed as trained and followed protocols and the law. i hope he gets a big settlement.


lastly, his responses of, ill go just let me walk out, tell me why your arresting me, dont taser me. this shows he was trying to be compliant and officers were wrong. with hands cuffed and weight from multiple officers on his BACK. the police were in no position to place a taser anywhere near him.

Cops are too used to being complied with. They turn on a set of arbitrary lights, and we pull over. They ask us to step out of the car, and we obey. They have large amounts of unearned authority over us, and they get used to it.

So they think they can just walk up to someone and put their hands on them. Like, it's their right to go around touching people just cause they feel like it or believe a law is being broken when, for the most part, these douchebags don't know shit about the law. They prefer to arrest people, then scour their manuals to find a law that's been broken (and there's always some ridiculous, obscure law they can nail us with).

If I was a police officer in this situation, I would have allowed this dude to speak, raise his voice, and be as demonstrative as he wanted to be. So the people at the public forum are annoyed? They can leave if they want. If they let this dude yammer on and on, it's not like the practice would become epidemic...most people aren't that obnoxious. In fact, by reacting to him, they're encouraging the behavior.

That said, if I asked him to be quiet and he touched me in response, I'd taze his ass and drag him downtown by the throat.
