one of the top five donors in the wolfpack club told me personally that butch davis is taking the arkansas job. this is the same person that told me it was o'brien not paul johnson well before any announcement (and was pissed about it). it's still just a word of mouth thing, but he heard it from the folks who call the shots in athletics at this university.

Well UNC is not that great of a team when Butch Davis inherit it.

They had Joe Daily and Cam sexton at QB; two QBs that are average at best. They WR corp also took a hit last year with people graduating. They did not have consistent talent on the team.

The class Butch has now consist of mostly freshman/sophormores and I think next year is when Davis will really shine.

Paulus should be making the start next season and with Marvin Austin and Greg Little, HS All-Americans that will likely start next season. I think Davis will have a lot more success; some of the games they lost this year are close. A TD against VA Tech/South Carolina, a field goal against ECU, and 2 points versus Virginia.

It is also hard to evaulate a coach on his first year achievements. UNC football was broking down and going to the Meinkeke Car Bowl every five years isn't exactly Mack Brown-ish.

I don't care how young they claim to be. We are young and we only have 65 scholarship players available out of the normal 85. There is no reason they should be performing worse than us. Also, the last couple years they had higher rated recruiting classes than us too. Hell, UNC will be young again next year because Davis already said he will be cutting scholarships from some upperclassmen that aren't performing and bringing in more new blood.

I honestly think we are better off if Butch Davis stays in UNC. The dude is fraudulent. There are a lot of new "hot" names around the country right now with all the usual big programs falling apart. This means a lot more buzz than someone who was perhaps a good college coach several years ago and sucked royally in the NFL recently. I would be more worried about them replacing Davis with Bo Pelini, Jim Leavitt, Bud Foster, etc.

I totally agree msb2ncsu! I have a few Miami alumni who think that Butch Davis is not that great of a coach due to the fact that basically the school recruits itself and he still couldn't win a championship with probably the most talented squad this decade except 2004/2005 USC. Davis' replacement scares me more than he actually does because lets just imagine if Bud Foster, Jim Leavitt, or somebody else like that was there. As long as rumors of him leaving continue then recruits will shy away.

^^What the fuck ever, sounds like sour grapes to me. Coker won a National Championship with a roster comprised entirely of Davis' players and after they left the program, Miami began to slide. Davis' Miami teams were showing steady improvement while he was there and just because some delusional fans talk shit doesnt make anything they say valid. All of this "the school recruits itself" nonsense is ridiculous. If you look at Davis without red blinders on you would realize that he is a very good coach...now John Shoop is a different story. Mack Brown went 1-10 his first two seasons in Chapel Hell, and that obviously is more of a statement about the Tarhole program than Brown's coaching.

to be as good as he is regarded as being, he hasnt realllllllly shown the results. he gets good recruits but cant seem to stick around them and seems like he never really commits to a place.

Only morons think that coaches can magically turn around garbage programs in a year, Carowhina has been terrible the past few years and no one short of Jesus was going to turn it around that quickly.
