If you knew anything about the Bond series and the history about the James Bond character you'd know that the reason he's hardened, unemotional, unattached, and just uses women is b/c of what happens in Casino Royale. So there was no way they could "leave that part out" to make it a better movie. That part of Bond's personality would never make sense for all the other movies. It was in the original book (maybe you're unaware that most of the early movies are based quite closely on books)

That trailer looks horrible--i don't even have a real clue what it's about...other than he's going rogue for some reason

i have an idea about it...but it makes me think they're screwing up the character and the story

now I'm twice as pissed off about the way they handled Casino Royale

also...Timothy Dalton has already made this movie

you're right about one thing...except for the wrong reason

the movie would have been better if they killed the girl the right way--the way its done in the novel...they skewed it a bit and by doing so I don't believe Bond's grief/hate/need for revenge at the end of CR. that's my biggest complaint about the Casino Royale movie...they could have updated and adapted anything else, they can play texas hold'em and bring felix leiter back to life as a black dude, but don't fuck up the most crucial and significant aspect of the Bond character and his personality.

I'm not watching any trailers for this. What excites me is that they are continuing character development. I think Casino Royale had more chacter development in it than all of the previous bond movies put together, with exeption to the Lasenby film, which at least gave a good try.

Flemming described Bond as looking something like Hoagie Carmichael
but more ruthless, with a thin scar down his cheek.



btw, Hoagie Carmichael was an actor/singer popular in the forties and fifties.







The scene in C.R. that did it for me was when he just took that big gulp of booze after the stairwell fight and sized himself up in the mirror. I was fucking hooked to what they were trying to do with the revamp after that.

I'm pretty excited about this. I did like Craig as Bond in the last one even though I've never been a huge bond fanatic.

I WILL say that he's ten times better (and so is the director) than the team that was doing the previous few Bond movies. Halle Barry has never impressed me except with her tits and Brosnan didn't pass as Bond. The biggest improvement to me is that instead of some unrealistically badass, RPG-proof sports car and shitty special effects they have Daniel Craig as a more realistic hero who can get drunk, be poisoned, and even die (he's human, IOW). For that reason alone I'm likely to catch this one over the few before Casino Royale

I asked this question in the ps3 thread.

The games is made from the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine. It also has a 3rd person cover system very similar to Gears of War. It received a 7.4 on IGN. They said it was good but some of the levels were designed to specifically use the cover system, so it felt forced a lot of the time. I'm still thinking about giving it a try.

gamespot hasn't reviewed it but VideoGamer has 9/10.

I'm getting it.. purely in hopes that multiplayer is 1/10th as awesome as Goldeneye. I've heard some good reviews and ok reviews for it... but nothing bad.

exactly... Casino Royale was alright, but just didnt feel like a Bond movie at all, felt like any other action movie

I hated the last few before this too, they were too goofy, but loved all the Roger Moore and Connery ones and Goldeneye was pretty good

CR was a re-introduction to the Bond character. It HAD to portray him like that to show how he transformed in to the Bond everyone knows. Personally, CR is my favorite Bond movie ever, and you can't really kill Daniel Craig because he wasn't in to the true "Bond persona" yet... but he should be in QoS..

I rewatched Casino Royale the other day

other than the crazy acrobat shit in the first chase sequence, I think this movie was perfect. I guess I'm a big fan of prequels even though I know they aren't most people's favorites -- I loved the scene where he gets his double 0 status, how he doesn't have a preferred drink yet, him winning that dude's car after he had been driving that Ford -- getting to see Bond becoming Bond was pretty cool IMO.
