Well, considering sid lost pretty much all of the previous '06 class set to come in...didn't have an '06 class of his own b/c he came in late, and was behind immediately for the '07 class (since recruits now are being targeted 2 years+ before HS graduation), it's damn near a miracle he got hickson and smith. He had to take what was left in terms of PG....and if the transfers were so good, they probably wouldn't have transfered in the first place.

what the hell were you people expecting? If he puts a couple players in the NBA, and has any success at all, he's going to have solid players knocking the door down in a few years (especially PG's) because of his style of play...but its not an overnight process.

not to mention this season is far from over....again, go back to the same time last year and tell me how we were doing.....that didn't turn out too bad, did it?

Cheek is def. out at UNC and he really seemed to like them, probably turned off by no playing time.

Someday UNC is going to petition the NCAA to allow them to have an A and a B roster, like back in HS. With all the recruits, they'd both finish in the top 25.

We can all thank Josh Groban and Marist beating OK State for that memorable game in Reynolds.

The reason we're a big disappointment nationally is that the media fell for the Gavin Grant hype machine, our 4 day "season" in Tampa, and JJ. Like most people have said, we had 6 players basically playing the whole time last year, and this year was supposed to be the rebuilding year with messing around with playing time and starting line-ups. The media had nothing really sturdy to go off of to put us in the Top 25. Hopefully this is the beginning of the guys beginning to gel and start to work as a team. Hopefully, too, they can put together a good run in the ACC regular season and end on a high note (higher than earlier this year) to go into next season. As much as I hate to say it, I'm still expecting NIT at most right now, but the NCAA tourney would be great.

Yeah at this point... but we had/have a NCAA caliber team. I hate when people act like Fells, McCauley and Costner were some scrubs that played over their heads late last year. All 3 of them were Top 100 recruits and Hickson is a top 10-15 recruit. The talent on this team is that of a 6 seed or higher this year... it's disheartening to think we might not even make the NCAAs...

I might find this true if we had a bunch of terrible slow white guys running around the court, but as long as I've been around the team has always consisted of mostly african american players. Just use this analogy for the football team and it disproves this terrible theory in a second.

We get worse recruits because they have two big time coaches, programs that have been relevant since 1987, have campuses/academics that have as much if not more to offer.. etc. etc.

blah blah blah. The only thing that matters is having the right coach.

UNC and Duke found good coaches decades ago and kept them. NCSU let their good coaches go. They got lucky a few times and found some good replacements, but then the odds caught up to us.

Let this be a basic lesson about management: keeping great employees is worth the expense.
