Anymore info about this? My parents live in Apex and I work there, so another nearby course that doesn't suck balls would be amazing

Well if it is going in at Middle Creek, don't hold your breath. People have been trying to get that course in since 2002

I guess technically it's in Cary, but whatever.

http://www.townofcary.org/depts/prdept/parks/middle.htm

I went out there about a month ago and there was at least one basket in place. I've heard that the grand opening of the course will be in late July/early September.

So i shot a 3 over at Valley Springs yesterday. Birdied a few really long holes 6(?), 14, and a few others.

There is a new one planned in Apex also, I think it was designed by Carlton Howard. Apex Nature Park

9 baskets are in at the middle creek course...i think it is supposed to be completed by Sept. They are planning a RADL monthly there in Sept.

^^any bogeys or aces in that round?

also, I went and played "Higher Ground" in fuquay a few weeks ago. Really nice homegrown course with three different tee boxes per hole. Shannon is a really nice guy too.

also, can't make the Raleigh Champs cause the Avett Bros are playing that weekend!

i shot par on 8 and 14. just clipped a tree at the gap on 14 or I would have been putting. on 8 the drive was ok but found a crap spot in the ditch right behind a hulking tree.

what do you guys shoot at cedar hills? i have always played it all par 3 and shot 4 down last time. that was one of my better scores I believe.

-4 is a solid advanced caliber round at Cedar Hills. Plenty of birdies to be had out there for sure, but Cedar has some bite to it when you miss the fairway. I'm typically around par out there... under par on good days and even or over par on bad days.

I rarely play Kentwood in casual rounds anymore b/c it's not good practice for midranges and drivers. I managed a -15 out there once, and shot -12 twice in monthlies.

Valley is favorite of mine. The white tees are slightly easier than Cedar Hills IMO. The pro tees are nasty, but not as bad as they were. They've added the new holes out there to replace holes 3-6. FIne by me, since the pro pads for those holes were flat-out brutal...

guys playing the RDGC? should be good times.

^^ yeah, I want to shoot a 53 or so at cedar for one round. Like mentioned, you gotta get a good number of birdies to offset hole 13 and 18 and potential bad drives.

2008 Great 8 is in the books... eight course in one day on Saturday. Got a knot in my right shoulder, but honestly it's mostly due to the long drive competition at the end of the day. Played with a longtime disc golf buddy of mine (intermediate player). The two of us manged second in the advanced doubles category with the following score:

Zebulon - 48 - A fantastic start on what's normally a brutal course to start the day.
Cedar Hills - 45 - Another great round, usually good enough to cash in Tuesday doubles...
Kentwood - 41 - Solid round, nothing to complain about
Buckhorn - 50 - This is where things started going south. Three bogeys and a few missed putts did us in....
UNC - 48 - Another mediocre round. Off the tee I was really struggling, and my putting couldn't make up the difference.
Valley Springs - 47 - Our worst collective round of the day. Neither of us could get going off the tee. With all the short holes out there we should have been in double figures...
Wellspring - 46 - Not great, but I'd all but mailed it in by this point. My partner hit some great drives, and I had a ridiculous upshot on #17 (>600 foot hole) to get a nice 3.
Cedarrock - 39 - And then there was THIS. Freaking ridiculous round. All of the sudden I got red hot off the tee, and my partner got the few I missed. We also started canning putts from everywhere - my partner abandoned his putters and used one of mine. He must have hit a half dozen putts outside 30 feet. Sad thing is a couple of doinked 20-25 footers were the difference between our -15 and a -17... but oh well.

Not bad overall. Winning the $80 first prize for the End of the day CTP was pretty sweet too, especially since a wind gust ducked my shot underneath a tree branch en route to hitting the pin

Good time, ya'll missed out.

RDGC this weekend. sorry I can't attend.

Just a few months ago, I was complaining about the lack of courses in the area, and now there are two new ones in the works within a 30 min. drive of Raleigh (Cary & Durham). Not to mention the course they are trying to get started in Carboro.

Anyone been out to the Lehigh Farm Park course in Durham? I don't think it's completed yet, but I hear it should be nice.

couple things to note...

Saturday is a workday for the new middle creek course (http://www.raleighdiscgolf.com/). If you work there in the morning, you can play the course that day. Please help out.

Also schwebby shot a damn 39 at the all star buckhorn layout. That came to a 1107 round the second best round in disc golf ever! I shot a 53 and was ecstatic. I did what i usually do. I hot round, a meh round a crap round and another hot round... (someone needs to tell me make 10 footers.)

workday @ Middle Creek went great on Saturday! around 40 people were there and we did a lot of clearing and mulch spreading.

the course is going to be solid, but still has a lot of work that needs to be done. 16 baskets are in (8 & 9 aren't in yet). I played it twice this weekend and enjoyed myself thoroughly. check out the staircase on 15! what a waste of money!

I don't know how this course is going to handle high volumes of players, like in a tourney situation. we'll see, like I said, lots of work to be done.

this course was hard to follow, i think we actually skipped 15 and 16 somehow. the woods are a pain in the ass and if you go deep it's going to be a pain.

tee box situation = lame

and you = never played a new course before, concrete tees wont be put in for at least a half year until they are certain the holes are right. 15 and 16 were left when you come off 14, a decent walk. if you are very new to the game, this course wont be for you until they put in am pads, its a very technical course. and if you cant throw it straight further than 200', youll be in the woods(very thick) more than you will be the fairway

[Edited on August 9, 2008 at 5:47 PM. Reason : if you cant throw a good anny shot either...]
