what's the deal with the hospital stuff you were doing? i figured that was probably something you had to do for ems training or something. i mean, at least you were doing some sort of medically related helping of people within the past month. i can vouch for that.

once your sort of "blacklisted" from that one station like that, does it follow you around to other places? a friend of mine got into some trouble at western wake a few years ago, but was able to get on somewhere else.

we go and work in anesthesiology so we can do intubations since we don't get to do too many in the field

how's your leg btw?

and yeah - it's not SUPPOSED to affect anything anywhere else, but everyone knows the agencies all talk to each other... i'm gonna give it a shot, though. six forks was my next choice.

hmmm so then you have been doing work technically. maybe not on call riding around in the ambulance type stuff, but you're learning and you're there to do what you can should something go wrong with a patient. what gives?

it's alright. just recovering/waiting for the next hacking in a few weeks. if you want, check out that thread in the garage. i posted some words and pictures of the most recent stuff. i'm also about to update a little more from my doctor visits today.

That really sucks, evan. I know the feeling of not having enough time to do something you love, even though you are dedicated to it. Lots of us just spread ourselves too thin.

But I think email format is FTL for firing/dismissing you from your position. Srsly. Good luck trying to work at another EMS department or at least trying again in a few months.

i think its a good idea to check out six forks. you might wanna be open with them and all if they might hear something esp since you seem to be turning around already. good luck

evan, man, that sucks. Regardless of the circumstances, e-mail is no way to fire an employee, especially one who loves their job like you obviously do.

But we're gonna take dnl's idea and expand on it a little bit. As an EMT, you have more medical knowledge than anybody in the entire nation of Gambia. We'll all put in to get you a ticket over there, and you can live like a king. Of course, it would be king of Gambia, but . . . look, I'm trying here.

that just sucks. i think your email takes just the right tone, though, and while i know nothing about the ems politics in the area, you should have no trouble getting on someplace else.

that said, taking a few months off is probably not a bad idea. hope you were able to get some sleep.

sorry to hear all this evan. it was obvious that you loved doing ems

but you're a young guy and chances are you have a long life ahead of you to pursue this interest. so i say to you, bear down, focus, get your shit together, and reapply in 6 months. you can do it

im not trying to be a dick here evan

and as a member of the brotherhood i feel for you.
working volunteer ems is very rewarding. it was for me for the 5 years i put into it and i pretty much spent my whole life at the local station with my dad.

but as you know, its a very serious commitment. I know you understand that. regardless of whats going on in your life you can / could cut some things out to have more time...such as

But in relation to the task, or lack there of, at hand, I am sorry you lost your job. Is it difficult to get an EMS job, provided you have the proper training of course?

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/2408911/

Quote :
"Raleigh — Wake County on Thursday hired a company to watch for potential identity theft after a computer containing personal information of patients and paramedics was stolen.

The laptop, which belongs to Wake County Emergency Medical Services, was taken from the emergency department at WakeMed on Jan. 17. Paramedics use laptop computers to create medical reports for download into hospital computer systems when they transport patients to emergency rooms.

Private information, including Social Security numbers and medical data, on up to 1,188 patients and information on 3,545 EMS and fire and Rescue personnel might be stored on the computer, officials said Thursday.

"We are taking a very aggressive approach in our response to the missing laptop," Wake County EMS Chief Skip Kirkwood said in a statement. "We are paying for identity protection services for everyone whose name may have been accessible through the laptop, not just the ones with a Social Security number."

The county hired National ID Recovery LLC, which specializes in monitoring potential fraud cases, to help citizens and employees place fraud alerts with the three credit bureaus, order copies of their credit reports for review and provide identity-theft monitoring.

County officials said they planned to send out letters Friday to everyone whose personal information may have been stored on the missing laptop. The letter will outline precautionary measures people should take, including information on how to receive free identity protection services from National ID Recovery for the next year.

The county's Information Services Department is installing specialized data encryption software on a targeted group of devices, including all EMS laptops. EMS also developed a policy for storing, handling and responding to loss of Patient Care Reporting System laptop computers.

People who want to enroll in the National ID Recovery monitoring program are asked to call 1-800-836-5679 and speak with a trained paralegal.

The Panasonic Toughbook laptop, model CF29, has silver and black casing and a handle and has a Wake County property label with the identification number DP 16096.

Anyone with information about the computer is asked to contact EMS District Chief Jeffrey Hammerstein at 919-625-3260."
