Games usually come out Tuesdays

For smaller games, they'll ship tuesdays and be in store Wednesday

But all the AAA titles are already in the store for days or weeks before the street date

So Gears would be on sale yesterday if they went with the conventional Tuesday release window

Not quite sure why they didn't....perhaps they didn't want the election stealing any of their thunder

Saw on the news earlier that they're having a meet and greet with fans out at BestBuy at Cary Crossroads. Starts at 10 tonight. I would imagine CliffyB and some of the other guys from Epic will be there.

pretty cool so far. the sound is a MAJOR upgrade from the first game. the guns all sound far more badass than they did in gears 1, especially the boltok pistol

^^everyone was a shotgun whore because it was so good, sort of the like the pistol in Halo 1. I'm sure they toned it down so people would actually use the other weapons.

the longshot doesn't down instantly if you get a perfect reload either

volcom, my friend went at lunch yesterday and got it for $40. I went at 430pm and got it for $40 at circuit city as well in cary at crossroads.

and yes the game is amazing

yes the sniper and shotgun have been changed but head shots are much easier with a variety of guns than in the past

my only complaint is the level where you drive the Centaur. While its a major improvement from Gears 1, this is definitely a level that could have been better


Controls are improved (you dont stick to things like in Gears 1)
Tons more guns and new executions
The Sound is WORLDS BETTER than Gears 1 and probably rivals COD4
The graphics are top notch and definitely improved from the previous game
The story is definitely as good as the first as well

i would give it a 9.5

I've replayed that checkpoint 100 times and can knock the guys off but can't kill the reaver before it blows up my shit.

figured it out. If you hold down RB while using the turret it cools it down almost instantly when it over heats so you can shoot again.

The voice acting is fucking horrible.

The storyline is extremely MEH.

Absolutely stunning graphics.

Gameplay doesn't seem like anything new or special, especially from GoW1. Maybe I'm just still so enthralled with Dead Space that it's carrying over to my opinions of other games

^everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I will have to disagree on your points for the voice acting and story. Haven't beat it yet but so far it is on par with what i expected. It doesn't have much of a scare factor though as some games do. Or maybe i'm just always expecting shit to jump out at me.


my only complaint will probably be fixed in 10 days with the new xbox 'upgrade' because you'll be able to install the game to the drive and that will cut down on the bad lag during check points and missing textures that take a little longer to load (hopefully)

and as far as gameplay...if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm glad they didn't change the gameplay much from GOW1 but they did add a few things which i see as an improvement...like proximity mines, destructible cover etc.
