yep...not even remotely close to racist
I'm sure if I went to a church who's "About Us" page on their website said "we area congregation which is Unashamedly White" you wouldnt think it was a racist church
Quote : | "We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community." |
replace 'black' with 'white' and 'African' with 'European' and tell me it doesnt sound racist

First of all, if anyone is parroting it's you. It's obvious to most people, including more regularly everyday the media, that Obama's followers cannot think for themselves.
Secondly, I got that Obama refers to himself as African American from the Washington Post. Although not nearly as reputable as whatever underground hate spewing blog you read. Here:
Quote : | "Born to a white mother and a black Kenyan father, reared in Hawaii by his white grandparents and for a few years in Indonesia with his Indonesian stepfather, Obama in many ways embodies the one America he often talks about: He identifies himself as African American, but his experiences are at once those of African Americans, whites, Asian Americans and immigrants " |

Quote : | "oh really? how is Trinity United Church of Christ, a mainline protestant denomination and member of the World Association of Churches (among others) a racist church?
what evidence do you have?
what's that? i cant hear you, louder please.
Oh, you say you have NO EVIDENCE? None? None at all?
well, imagine that.
" |
I never said the church was racist, just Obama's very close friend and minister of 20 years. I know you were talking to Twista, but since I know that you were crying about that I thought I would interject. Oh wait, here is your unsubstantiated claim:
Quote : | "No one in his church, not his minister or anyone, has praised the Nation of Islam, or any of the racist/anti-semitic speech of Louis Farrakhan. " |
Did you even read the Washington Post article, or did you have to first go check the Obama site to see what you were supposed to believe? I guess this is a rhetorical question since that is clearly what you did.
Quote : | "Barack Obama is a member of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Its minister, and Obama's spiritual adviser, is the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.[b] In 1982, [b]the church launched Trumpet Newsmagazine; Wright's daughters serve as publisher and executive editor. Every year, the magazine makes awards in various categories. Last year, it gave the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award to a man it said "truly epitomized greatness." That man is Louis Farrakhan. " |
You should try reading before you spout off Obama's talking points, or do you just not know any better?
For Obama to claim that the magazine (which was started and is owned by the church of which he is a member, of which his minister's children are editors and publishers, of which his minister named Louis Farrakhan as a great man) is somehow a separate entity is ludicrous.2/27/2008 6:23:57 PM |

^ is there anything in that church code that in any way suggests that you would be welcome as a caucasian of European descent? Of course not and of course it's racist. It's not as if they are claiming we are Kenyans and proud of our country, they are claiming those of African descent which is a selection based solely on race.
Furthermore, I don't care how much Obama states that he doesn't believe in the teachings of Farrakhan, which include this gem:
Quote : | "White people are potential humans…they haven’t evolved yet." " |
and
Quote : | "The Blackman is the original man. From him came all brown, yellow, red, and white people. By using a special method of birth control law, the Blackman was able to produce the white race. This method of birth control was developed by a Black scientist known as Yakub, who envisioned making and teaching a nation of people who would be diametrically opposed to the Original People. A Race of people who would one day rule the original people and the earth for a period of 6,000 years. Yakub promised his followers that he would graft a nation from his own people, and he would teach them how to rule his people, through a system of tricks and lies whereby they use deceit to divide and conquer, and break the unity of the darker people, put one brother against another, and then act as mediators and rule both sides."" |
So long as he continually associates himself with Reverend Wright, Jr. then Obama is racist in my book and people need to know about this.

Speaking of double standards, Words:
Quote : | "Barack Obama was questioned at Tuesday night's debate by Tim Russert and Hillary Clinton about repudiating Louis Farrakhan's endorsement — which Obama said was unsolicited — in the strongest terms possible. He was repeatedly badgered by Russert, and was forced to disown Farrakhan over and over again.
The very next day, John McCain appeared onstage in Texas with Pastor John Hagee, an influential activist in the Christian Zionist movement. Hagee's comments about world affairs can make Farrakhan seem pedestrian at times: He eagerly awaits the Armageddon, considers the Catholic Church to be the Anti-Christ, and has said that Jews brought their own persecution upon themselves.
But when it came to McCain's rather controversial backer, the press hardly batted an eye. Seems like a pretty clear double standard, right?
Some readers might remember Hagee from this video put out last year by Max Blumenthal, from Hagee's Christians United For Israel conference. During the event, Hagee proclaimed that the United States must consider a preemptive strike on Iran, and also said that Jews had been responsible for their persecution throughout history because of a failure to properly accept God:
Blumenthal only scratched the surface here — Hagee is a colorful character, to say the least.
Very much like Farrakhan, Hagee has regularly made remarks about current events and other religions that many would find alarming. But unlike Farrakhan, he has never truly faced the scrutiny of the mainstream press, and major politicians like Joe Lieberman and John McCain have freely associated with him.
In 2006, Hagee laid out his views on eschatology in a book called Jerusalem Countdown, in which he claimed that sources had told him a year earlier about world events to come — and amazingly enough, all those predictions had come true over the past year. Next on the agenda, according to his March 2006 interview in Human Events: Israel would go to war with Iran before May 2006. And from there, Hagee eagerly anticipated an all-out world war against Iran and Russia, followed by the Second Coming.
On the right, Bill Donohue of the Catholic League is objecting Hagee's extremist writings, particularly his denunciations of the Catholic Church. For example, Donohue pointed to instances in which Hagee has referred to the Catholic Church as, "The Great Whore," an "apostate church," the "anti-Christ," and a "false cult system." Is Tim Russert going to repeat any of that to McCain, in the same way he read out Farrakhan's "gutter religion" line about Jews?
"Senator Obama has repudiated the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan, another bigot," Donohue wrote. "McCain should follow suit and retract his embrace of Hagee."
So here's the question: Will the same media outlets who have hammered Barack Obama about Louis Farrakhan's uninvited endorsement now ask John McCain to denounce and reject the support of John Hagee, which was actually sought and publicly accepted?" |

We all get that black people have historically had to work together due to the systematic oppression waged on them in the United States.

Quote : | "But why does Obama continue to associate himself with an organization that openly praises the Nation of Islam?" |
red fucking herring. once again.
can you ever stick to the facts?
NO ONE has praised the Nation of Islam.
Barack's "organization" (the mainstream protestant christian church he has attended for 20+ years) has never praised Farrakhan.
what happened was a private publication praised Farrakhan for the work that he was doing in Chicago getting ex-felons reintegrated into society as productive citizens, and not repeat offenders.
it was done by a publication ("The Trumpet") published by a man, Rev Wright, who used to be the leader of Trinity United Church of Christ, a mainstream protestant denomination in the south Side Chicago that teaches the positive aspects of African culture and 90% of their parishioners' heritage.
Barack Obama has, for many years, repeatedly and publicly rejected and denounced Farakhan's racist and anti-semitic statements.
this is a matter of public record
now how about you look at your own anger and fear. why do black folks scare you so much?

The Aryan Nation and the KKK are proud of their white heritage in that they hate everyone else.
Most AME and afrocentric groups/churches are proud of their African/black heritage. Period. Some do hate on other groups, and that ain't right.
But having black pride is not the same as having white pride+hate. To compare the two is absurd. If you're bothered that "white pride" has connotations of hate, you can blame the KKK for that. Not liberals or black people or academics. White folks fucked up white pride all on they own.
Plus, white folks don't typically have white pride. They're usually proud to be Irish, Italian, Russian, German, etc...
Most black folks can't have that nation-based identity because, in the absence of records, it's hard to know where your family came from. Plus, there are certain factors, past and present, that tend to unify the group into one. I might argue that "black pride" is a condition that has been imposed on and fostered in black communities since slavery. And it's not necessarily a bad thing.

i'd do pretty well in a real debate...you dont have to believe me, but you've never met me in my life so your dumbass is clueless in the first place about me...most of you would be clueless if you couldnt google shit left and right before you posted...i come off the top] 2/29/2008 5:07:29 PM |

No actually
Most of us managed to stay awake through basic history
You're 'off the top', which I guess means Glenn Beck style 'HAY, IM AN IDIOT BUT IM STILL GONNA COMMENT' arguing skills makes you come off as a complete twat.
A reason why everyone in the history of the wolf web outside of sports talk treats you like a massive, leaking, catheter tube. 2/29/2008 5:10:14 PM |
