"Apparently NCSU moved all the grade dist. stuff to the new MyPack Portal, so the Tool can't access them like it used to. Whoever made the tool, can you please fix this? Or does this change make it impossible to fix?"

I took a look at the mypack pages for the new reports. I don't think this would be a quick change.

I'm pretty sure that you'd have to add an authentication layer to this tool now. The mypack pages for grade distribution all fall under a level of security now. It's a royal pain in the ass basically.

The best way would be for one person to get a dump once per semester of the data so that you don't have to scrape the data every time you want it. That and you don't have to have a login form for this. In any case someone, somewhere has to login to mypack to get this data now.

Disclaimer: It's 6am and the above was blurred half awake typing. I don't expect it to make any sense.

Well, I did find this link in my email this morning:

http://ncsu.blinkness.com/

It's a grade dist. tool. I tried it out for a few of my classes. It doesn't have the year listed, but it seems at least somewhat OK. See what you think.

I'm looking into it. I figure I'll have to write a script to go and get all the data for every class/section like others have suggested. If anyone wants to help let me know since I'm not really a javascript guru.

i already started doing this, but for class searches and not grade distribution. i wasn't aware they had switched that over to PS as well.

i've been writing a php library that handles all the weird ass authentication and malformed variable names. i'll probably eventually end up writing grade distribution stuff for a project i'm working on, so i'd be glad to share once i get it working.

but yeah - you'll drive yourself crazy figuring out what the hell is happening between the strange page tracking via cookies and oracle's seriously messed up javascript. i know i did.

StateboyLP,

I used your tool my last two years here, great job. I am planning on adding something similar, but with more features (course and prof comments, etc) and such to WolfWall before the beginning of next semester. I am going to dump the data for the past 5 years or so and I guess I will have to update the dump each semester but that shouldnt be an issue.

To get to the point, I can write a program to do this dump quickly and easily, and I can share it with you after I do it if you want so you can keep your tool up, it would be a csv file most likely that I would import into sql. Shoot me an email at trey@wolfwall.com if youre interested cus im not on here a whole lot.

Until you finish, this could be useful for those of you who still have WRAP logins: http://www.wolftech.ncsu.edu/tracster/distributions/
