what have you done, Mr. Righteous?"
I don't think there was anything condescending about my post. Read my subsequent post a few lines down, I gave terpball the benefit of the doubt and then supported his right to do what he did even though I didn't agree with his candidate.

Ending the war now isn't a priority for me. Because of my background, which I'm not going to go into on TWW, I see it in too complex a light to take the stance most anti-war protestors take.

I still remain politically active on causes I do belive in.

I'm just a fan of an educated and involved electorate. What is unduly "righteous" about that?

Look I understand that some of your family is or was in the military. Probably was.

And you probably wrongly assume that I oppose war. I am not a pacifist. I fully support the war in Afghanistan which we are fucking up by overextending ourselves in Iraq. We should be fucking dominating Afghanistan to set an example in the region.

The Iraq War is bullshit.

and what exactly difference has all that made? precisely none

also i wish terpball could actually address a point he disagreed with instead of saying "treetwista is such an idiot"

like i said this shit mightve been cool in high school when you were too young and dumb to realize the futility...but now it just shows you're a moron

i bet you guys had good time standing in the rain and saying "yeah fuck bush fuck america"...too bad nobody cared but you

twista's idea of political activism involves:

(1) not voting
(2) doing bong hits
(3) being aggressively ignorant on the internets.

keep doing what you're doing, terp. im glad you were there.

^^^ there is nothing straw man about that. A republican government requires an active polity. Dictatorships and despots rest on a populace who is content to seek their own personal short term interests at the expense of their long term liberty.

It seems the Treetwista is intimidated by me for some reason. I didn't so much actively protest, more went and took pictures with the protest, and actively supported the people blockading the intersection. It was my choice. If you don't like it, fuck off.

Yet this Treetwista toolbag comes out to write paragraphs about how what I did made no difference.

Quote :
"people have been protesting the iraq war for what, 5 years? and its still going on...that would lead me to believe that these protests are pretty much meaningless

also why can't you do it out of main traffic thoroughfares? I'm sure some of the people who y'all delayed and got caught in traffic are also anti-war...but you don't see them standing in the middle of the street acting like they're so important

hopefully you tried to bag some slutty pothead chick and take her home to bwn cause if you didnt it was a complete waste of time just like all the other iraq war protests that have no direct effect on what the US does in Iraq

its not like this protest was needed to make the govt aware of the people's dislike of the war...therefore it was pointless

btw looks like the protest was mostly made up of "white America as a whole"
"

Why do you really give a shit about what I do? Why do you follow me around every thread criticizing every stance I have on every issue? What are you so afraid of? Or are you just a little bitch with nothing else to do? Perhaps you feel like you don't matter in the real world, so you're trying extra hard on TWW? Go get a life you fucking loser.

because freedom of speech=democracy

nothing has failed here. you took part in your right to free speech, and nobody did shit about it, or even knew of the protest on a national level. not hating or anything thats just how it goes. thats why i see it as a waste of time.

(although if it was happening around the corner id go check it out too)

gg terpball for defending your free speech with this march. my 5 family members(cousins/uncles/brothers) that currently serve this in the armed forces overseas for this nation would look you point blank in the eye and say they are fighting for people like you so that you can do this. so it's all good. if you want to send them home, and make them feel as if they aren't accomplishing anything feel free to do so

keep up your march, b/c i'll be supporting their march against the powers of baghdad/ baidoa/ kabul/ tehran and anybody else who wants to take away YOUR right to march.

its an obvious strawman because i said nothing at all about "democracy being a failure"

i said their trite and petty protests havent done jack shit which they havent

and terpball is a toolbag for making a thread about this gay ass shit

Quote :

me too, but pointing out the obvious pisses off someone like terpball...he doesnt give a shit that the protest is a waste of time...he just doesnt want anyone else to dare point out that the protest is a waste of time, because that would be saying something negative about him and oh no you better not do that! he'll call you an idiot, he really will!

its a core tenet of American democracy

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic

^^ couldn't we just fight them on the day they actually COME to take away my right to March? why all the belligerence?

^ well if the government does not represent the will of the people then democracy must not be working, right?

your general anti-protest attitude is nothing short of unamerican (for once, an accurate use of that term)

perhaps rather than protest, you prefer the mcveigh-rudolph-kazinsky approach to advancing change

given tax breaks from the Federal and Local Governements - so there you have it, even the kids in the orphanage got a benefit of the tax payer's dollars so they could get a decent chance at life.

Thanks, that was an excellent situation to prove my point.

The ignorance is astounding

Just think about how fucked up the world would be if we DIDN't speak our minds and demonstrate in one way or another. What if Bush and Cheney thought the American people actually supported the war! More dead, more money, more turmoil, more hatred toward America.

exactly as fucked up as it currently is

Bush and Cheney have known for at LEAST 3-4 years that (much of) America didn't support the war

so how have any of the protests in the last 3-4 years changed anything? We're still in Iraq killing innocent Iraqi civilians every day...there are already more dead and theres more hatred to America

SO I'LL ASK AGAIN

what good have any of your protests done except to make you personally feel like you were important?

^I don't really care about China and Tibet

I'm talking about modern day war protests

protests a few decades back used to be people who cared to make a difference...not these days...not these protests...dont confuse what i'm saying with me supposedly not wanting equal rights for women, minorities, etc...i'm specifically talking about protests in america in the last 5 years, specifically pertaining to the iraq war and trying to impeach bush and cheney
