but being a nice guy and thinking that it will get you some play eventually


and by play i mean everything from a simple date to a relationship to a fuckbuddy.


The problem here is that people try to be nice, be jokesters, and still have this idea in their head that they can be a "gentleman" with a soft side. This is called the "White Knight" principle. They usually have issues within themselves of confidence or social anxiety, and thus pick every chick that shows remote interest and blow it into a giant crush. What follows is always the same: rejection, bitterness, and a bad reputation.

The defense to this, of course, is the old "i'm just being nice" or, even better, "HEY CAN'T A GUY BE NICE TO A GIRL WITHOUT BEING ACCUSED OF BEING AFTER SOMETHING." But isn't it strange that in a place like TWW, the most racist, sexist, vulgar, offensive website most of us know... that all of a sudden, people try to express some sort of online chivalry? Not to mention the fact that the thread creator himself has been called out numerous times for such behavior. I like you chembob, but it raises an eyebrow and heeds a shake of the head.

It's ultimately an antiquated mindset followed by those that are too shy to hit up random chicks on myspace/facebook, and too cheap to pay for Eharmony or Match.com.


It has never, EVER worked. Trust me. You'll grow out of the mindset and eventually gain standards and confidence... but until then, you're just like the lurkers who pm chicks constantly... you just do it in public... which is arguably as shameful, but at least it takes some amount of balls to do it and not care.
