Not a big fan of most of the 2 flag/hockey stick logos that folks come out with. The 2 flag thing would work if the stick was made longer or the flags were smaller, not taking up the entire stick that looks retarded.

Interesting news out of D.C. , Olie the Goalie is out. Possibly a back-up job here in Carolina?

It's close enough to D.C. that it may happen. Other teams I think he could go to if he chooses to still play: Philly, Nashville, Atlanta, Florida.

I don't really see him being a starting net minder anywhere, anymore. But then again, teams like L.A. or Toronto are desperate.

08 ticket prices above, prices (we knew it was going to happen) went up but for ticket holders there are incentives meant to offset to the cost, and the incentives aren't bad at all. looks like i'll be getting another jersey without paying. also includes vouchers for food and stuff i guess?

Peter Laviolette will remain the coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, team general manager Jim Rutherford said Friday.

Laviolette and owner Peter Karmanos met in Raleigh on Thursday to discuss the team’s future and disappointing finish to the 2007-08 season, which saw the Canes miss the playoffs by two points.

“They had a really good meeting,” Rutherford said. “Everything is the same. This became a bigger issue than it needed to be.”

Gleason negotiations stalled, agent says

Tim Gleason's agent, Pat Morris, said Friday that negotiations over the restricted free agent's contract have stalled.

"Things have ground to a halt," Morris said. "They're staring at us and we're staring at them. We're not prepared to do a deal at their numbers and they're not prepared to do a deal at our numbers."

Wednesday, Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said the two sides were engaged in bargaining over the length of the deal: a two-year contract that takes him up to his eligibility for unrestricted free agency or a longer deal that buys him out of a year or two of free agency.

If he isn't re-signed by July 1, Gleason could be the target of offer sheets from other teams. While the Hurricanes retain matching rights, they would only receive draft picks in return if they chose not to match any offers.

Morris said he hasn't seriously discussed the offer-sheet process with Gleason yet, but that the negotiations with Carolina have run out of common ground.

"I'd call it breathing space," Morris said. "We'll re-evaluate our positions, but at this point there are no future talks. The objective is still to get Tim signed."

Morris also represents Chad LaRose, another restricted free agent, and said negotiations on his contract were just beginning.





I think we either see a 2 year deal for 2.5 apiece or a 3-4 year deal with a yearly hit of around 3.5
