Thats your personal preference then.

I prefer girls who are fit and physically active. So they usually don't have the propensity to get fat to begin with. And If I'm going to put a lot of effort into staying in shape myself, then I think the girl should too. Her getting lazy and fat would be the same to me as getting lazy and quitting her job, or something else along those lines. Weight and physical health are of the same importance as personality and intelligence to me.

I've got fat friends...and I respect their preference to not put in the effort to lose weight. But I wouldn't date or hook up with them either.

She was probably up all night staring at the ceiling b/c you were a douche to her somehow (probably cause you're still sleeping w/ your ex) and she was feeling miserable, so she got up and did something that made her feel better (without resorting to violence).

so stfu and stop being such a pussy and treat her right and she'll treat you right, which means she'll want to look good for you.

Oh yeah, and cook dinner once in a while. I only gained weight when I was with someone b/c I was unwilling to cook for him every night, so when it was his turn to provide food, we usually ended up going out to eat b/c he was too lazy to cook.

sylvershadow i'm not sleeping with my ex anymore so no need to bring up old shit in here

second she does cook dinner often, I was just nice enough to take her out last night, where she had tiramisu after dinner then the ice cream sandwich, hence me wondering why women would do this to themselves when their body is so central to who they are

women who think their body is central to who they are are just coming up with excuses not to have personality or personal thought.

take care of yourself. and avoid douche bags who measure your self-worth with exclusively physical criteria.

You gotta be attracted to somebody first before you can get to the "are they cool" part. And since most guys aren't attracted to fatties...then I guess you ladies need to step away from the cold stone and step onto a treadmill.

a woman who keeps herself in a physically attractive state may be doing so because she is proud of how she looks and cares about her health. or she may be doing so because she feels compelled to in order to be loved and accepted.

i think it's more practical to maintain a healthy body type, eat healthy (or at least consciously) and maintain proper hygiene than to spend 2 hours a day at the gym so you can come home and eat foods that don't satisfy you and to load on the make-up all the time so you look a little better.

and i should mention that the term fatties really should be applied to grossly obese people who have more rolls than a bakery, as compared to someone who may have love handles and a little pooch belly.

First...there aren't too many girls who spend 2 hours in the gym. Second, I think you're stereotyping people who spend a lot of time staying fit. The majority of people that spend a lot of time doing physical activities do it because: (1)they enjoy doing it, (2) they enjoy the feeling after completing these physical activities (I hate running, but I love the feeling right after I'm done running, (3) they how they look when they are in shape, (4) they are doing it to reach certain goals (to play sports or compete in races).

There aren't too many obsessed people who run an extra mile so they don't have to use non-fat dressing or eat a salad because they didn't do that one aerobics class.

Besides...certain salads can taste just as good as "unhealthy" foods.

And fatties can be whatever I feel like fatties are (which to me, are girls 20-25lbs overweight and up).

What will you men do if you and your girl have a baby one day? I have been pretty lucky that my body is back at the same size and weight before pregnancy but I have stretch marks now and the typical flab piece from where the skin stretched too much. A lot of times there is no going back to the way you used to look- no matter how much exercising and eating healthy you do.

I am so grateful that my guy still loves my body.

yeah, i'm also not a fan of the muffin top.

I agree with a lot of the guys in this thread. If you want to claim that a guy being conscious of how you look as superficial, then so be it, but it is no different than a woman caring about how much her husband makes and what job he has since money, like looks, isn't everything and can also come and go. To her status and potential wealth is what helps determine his worth, and to a man her looks, in part, help determine a portion of her worth. You can find plenty of women out there who have good personalities but the trouble is finding one who actually looks cute and/or hot and also has a good personality. If guys didn't take looks into consideration at first, they could just marry anyone and fatties would get a lot more dates. But thats just not the way it works, and theres nothing sexist or inappropriately superficial about it. Even if you were to ask women if they'd be willing to date someone with the exact characteristics of their partner but only with better looks, would they...most are going to say yes. Thats the point a lot of the guys are making here. We can find girls who are usually generally as good as the next one, so your looks are what you have that separates you.

Simply put, girls are attracted to status, and men to looks. We hold these truths to be self evident.

because girls who hang out on tww are a fine representation of the typical girls out there in the US.

also, status isn't all about money, but is often involved and does usually come into play at some point.

Yeah...but my stereotyping has more backup...because I don't see too many overweight people outside running and walking or in the gym. Therefore I assume they are being lazy by staying inside and not doing anything about it. But I love seeing bigger people out running and doing their thing in the gym. It motivates the shit out of me and makes me excited for them.

And as far as the whole pregnant thing...yeah, there is definitely some leniency in that. But you can get back to an acceptable weight in a reasonable amount of time. Don't say its not possible, because I've seen plenty of women do it. People's genes factor a lot into it, but with the right amount of work, anybody should be able to get back to pre-pregnancy weight.

And yeah, the pooch is bad. I can't stand to see "thin" everywhere else...then have a kangaroo pouch on the belly. It just doesn't look right. I'd rather see "thick" all-around.

if I had a wife give me a child, I would say she would be pretty much exempt from having to maintain perfection. The creation of a child is such an amazing act of love, it transcends the rules I usually adhere to.

That said, it is for those very reasons and others that I not only do not want to get married, I do not want to have a child.

Why isn't anybody responding to my claim? That putting on weight all of a sudden AFTER you're together with someone is deceptive? If you start eating bad, and stop working out AFTER you've been together for a while is pretty much saying you were "just kidding" in the beginning?

It's wrong, and it ends up wasting time if you value not only healthy habits and diet, but if you also value honesty and integrity

I can't imagine why a girl would put on weight after getting a guy.

To me, maintaining looks is about personal satisfaction, not attractiveness to the opposite sex.

If I were to get married and gain 50 pounds, I'd be disgusted with myself every time I looked in the mirror, regardless of what my husband thought.

Word...I think my family has produced ridiculously high standards for me.

My mom is about to turn 54 and is in better shape than most 25-year old women that I know. My dad is almost 60 and has less body fat than me. And my sister is actually pretty thick, but works out about five times a week and is a kick-ass rugby player.

I don't have a problem with people who are happy with their weight and how their body looks. But the majority of people aren't, and I don't have the sympathy for them if they won't put in the effort to do anything about it.

wow stillfuchsia i'd think a person with your literary skills would be able to be more elegant with wording and could result to more intelligible retorts. regardless of which, you could be the really cool guy in school or you could be the leader of some organization that someone participates in or for a simple example, how female students will some times fall for their male professors. you didn't even try for this one, did you?

terpball i feel you, man, seriously. because when you spend a little amount of time with these girls who do that they eat salads and what not when you go on your little dates or general outings and speak as if they're so health conscious but then later when you hang out with them more you notice that their diet is trash and later on its going to catch up with them as their figure fizzles away. some girls will complain about how they need to go to the gym or lose some weight and then only to order a huge plate of cheese fries at a bar and then later go out and get cook out after the bar. The result, them trying to maintain their weight by cutting out meals. This, while effective short term, is not a long-term solution. I don't want a girl who doesn't eat at all, or only eats salads, but i do like women who eat in a health conscious fashion with appropriate portions. i much rather have them eat 3 meals a day rather than skip breakfast, have a bag of king size m&m's for lunch, skip dinner and then eat the nastiest shit they can find only to snack on junk food later that evening. healthy isn't an act, its a lifestyle. either you're living it or you're not. people shouldn't act as if they are just because they are weight conscious. its two different things.
