at least half the country does not know the difference between wary and weary

i always hear shit like "i am weary of walking across campus alone at night" when the intended meaning is "i'm skurd"

it is particularly annoying since one could actually be weary of many things that make one wary

i.e. Whiteville is not Wattvull, Fayetteville is not Fetvull

pronounce the damn word you southern nincompoop

Nincompoop - possibly from Latin non compos mentis, "not of sound mind"
