My parents won't tell me either. But then again, I don't really care. My IQ has been high enough to get through school and get a paying job
That said, I wonder if that's true about AG. Hmm...6/19/2008 6:11:07 AM |

Comments like this show that the principal had no idea what they were doing in the AG classes, which is sad. I was learning algebra in elementary school thanks to AG.6/19/2008 6:33:39 AM |

So i was looking through my parents scrap book and my 4th grade teacher wrote "bill thinks differently from the rest of the class, not in a bad way but i often find myself amazed at how he comes up with correct answers"

Id like to see what I get on a real IQ test. I haven't taken one in years. Someone should find an online IQ test that actually measures something so we can get accurate results. 6/19/2008 8:10:55 AM |

it says side lines. they missed the question because they couldn't evaluate it analytically, which, in turn, does measure intelligence.6/19/2008 9:37:14 AM |

^ technically there are four sides. They can be split into two ends and two sides. It might not be clear which ones are the ends and which are the sides. 6/19/2008 12:39:05 PM |

Frankly, I'm not buying this "pre-IB" line of horseshit for one second." |
Look it up.

IB absolutely is not just 11th and 12th grades (they even have a Primary program). Just because I didn't end up taking the tests doesn't mean I wasn't in IB.

Like I told StillFuchsia,
Quote : | "Hey, that's great.
It's still a bunch of bullshit.
Congratulations on you having that opportunity in middle school and all, but it doesn't matter for jack-all. It's irrelevant to actually obtaining an IB diploma or any other sort of meaningful certificate.
Sorry, but I'm not a big proponent of lower-education programs trying to build themselves up into something more than they are in an effort to gain local celebrity and increased funding." |
You participated in a program that amounted to absolutely nothing in the bigger picture. Did anything in middle school really help you get into a better college? A better job?
Stick to your NCSSM credentials -- those are substantial, possibly even better than what IB could offer -- but don't try to act like you went through the program when all you actually did was the through some pussy-ass watered-down "IB MYP" middle school shit.6/21/2008 4:31:52 AM |

i don't trust online tests... last real test i took (administered by a professional) was 163. which i don't really get, because i suck at math. 6/21/2008 8:35:08 AM |

I have an IB diploma and it's the most worthless piece of paper I ever received. AP is way better, but I only took 2 AP tests. I wish I'd just taken more of those because NCSU either doesn't accept IB scores, or demands that they be ridiculously high to get class credit. 6/21/2008 8:56:28 AM |

My grades in IB MYP gave me the opportunity to go to NCSSM. And there's nothing watered-down about THE SAME ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Hell, I was even taking the (what you call "real") IB math courses when I left (10th grade must be SO DIFFERENT from 11th, right?!?!).
I bet your diploma helped you out a lot, just like Nerdchick's.

Yes, it did. My performance in that program compensated for my middling class rank, and I did get a lot of course credit -- enough that graduating in four years was no problem, with room in my schedule to spare for taking anything extra I wanted.

So was it the fact that you had good grades, or that you were in MYP?6/21/2008 1:59:21 PM |

I would've been valedictorian or salutatorian if I had stayed in IB, but that didn't really deter me from leaving. I got most of my credit (30 hours or so) from taking AP exams when I was at NCSSM anyway.
Quote : | "The fact that you had good grades, or that you were in MYP?" |
Both (there was no shortage of people applying to NCSSM from the CMS system with good grades). I'm sure you just being in the IB program wasn't the only thing that allowed you to get all those credits. Either way, the classes were graded higher than the AP scale, and I had to work my ass off for those As.
