when I first moved to Va for grad school, I didn't know a soul. So the first thing I did after getting settled was to throw this humongous party at my crib. I met a lot of people that way.
however, that tactic worked in the college atmosphere. I doubt it would work now. I haven't really met many people at all since I've been in NY either. I've met a lot at work, and a few at the gym.....but then again, I don't really have to worry about it. I'm in a different boat than you are I guess 7/13/2008 1:04:01 AM |

Honestly, to me someone who says this has no idea what it's like to move to a big city (or really anywhere) on their own for job. It's the same people who look down on someone who goes to a sports bar by themselves.
I've never done the online dating thing b/c I've never been in the situation where I was in a new place and single... but I would if I was in that situation. What is there to lose?
That opinion just reeks of someone who is lived in NC there whole adult lives and mostly in a college type area...

Sign up for some adult classes, like karate, pottery, art, Spanish, whatever. The best part is you'll have at least one interest in common with the people you meet.
As for internet dating, it's worked for lots o' people, so keep on trying that if ye want to.7/13/2008 2:05:53 AM |

I don't think there's anything wrong with internet dating, really. I've done it before and not because I was moving or busy...I was bored!
But, just out of curiousity NCSUWolfy...did you meet mcdanger online? 7/14/2008 6:46:35 PM |
