"again, ignorance. you obviously are IGNORANT to the laws and accident data concerning motorcycles. you're just pulling your comments out of your ass. in california, it is perfectly legal to lane split (passing between cars on the dotted white)."

Interesting! You're right, I did not know that. Thank you for sharing (albeit so very very late into this discussion).

"same with most areas in europe. it's desperately needed in other urban area in the u.s. besides ca, but like so many other things the laws haven't caught up with the times. the facts are clear that allowing motorcycles to lane split reduces the risk of collisions involving them, especially rear end ones. just because something seems dangerous to you doesn't make it so."

Also very interesting! I'd like to hear about those facts. It would help me to understand lane splitting can be a good thing to do.

"please explain to me the purpose of using turn signals on a vehicle supposedly traveling at least ~20mph in excess of any posted speed limit?"

Okay, when I said "AND typical lack of turn signal" I should have said "OR." Really mincing words, but that was indeed my typo. I'll take that one.

"again, you're labeling something as a wreckless behavior for invalid reasons. everyone should be responsible for their actions and accept any associated risks with those actions, but wishing harm to someone just because they're doing something you don't like is asinine."

I don't "wish" them harm. I'm saying in the event of a wreck, they'd simply be due no sympathy. Exact same stance I have with people who drink and drive. If I somehow indicated that I explicitly wished harm, I apologize for wording it incorrectly. However, in light of your clarifications, I fully take your point on calling it wreckless for invalid reasons. So, if you get a chance, please explain this justification for lane-splitting as a safer practice.

^fair enough. it just gets under my skin a little when people comment about things without having any facts to back them up or having done any research on the subject. not because i'm that uptight of a guy, but it happens constantly around here and then people STILL want to argue about it. my gf can be the same way, but she at least admits that she sometimes says things just because they sound good or she wants to sensationalize something. used to bother me, but now i don't really care since i know she doesn't really believe whatever it is. for the record, i trying to say that you were ignorant to the facts, not in general. two different things. i apologize if it came off as a personal attack.

i can also admit to taking a little more offense to the "they deserve to wreck" thing than the average person, but it's only because i've been through a bad motorcycle wreck and all the troubles associated with it. it's something that has a permanent impact on your life. it's not the kind of phrase to throw around lightly just because someone is being a jackass or you simply don't like them, but i've certainly been guilty of it in the past myself.

as for the sympathy thing, i agree (probably for different reasons though) and even take it even further. i don't believe that anyone who makes the decision to drive or ride in any capacity deserves sympathy for anything that happens to them under any circumstances. children are the only true innocents. HOWEVER, people certainly deserve varying levels of compassion in my opinion. i'm a very firm believer in people taking responsibility for their actions and accepting the consequences (as noted by my no sympathy statement), but you also have to keep in mind that everyone isn't perfect and people make mistakes. it's a fine line to keep in sight. we've all done stupid things on the road, whether by accident or on purpose. i guess most of this is a subject that's largely a matter of opinion, but i don't know that i personally can really condemn anyone to "deserving" the type of physical and emotional pain i've experienced for any reason. unless, they're a rampant habitual offender of putting other people's lives in grave danger (like some drunk drivers) and nothing else has worked to stop them. or, in the event those kind of people do end up hurting or killing someone. otherwise, lets just stick with them deserving things like tickets, taking their license, arrests, or even seizing the bike. if someone is TRULY being a problem, not just doing something you might percieve as dangerous without reason, call *hp. they are surprisingly very good about responding to those kinds of calls. just use your good judgment on what the call about, or that good response goes out the window and could affect you should you have a flat, wreck, or whatever and need an officer.

since i'm sure he'll be in here blabbering something now that the conversation has gone this way, certifiable retards like sumfoo1 (yes, that's a personal attack/fact/take it in the worst way) would have us believe that all of this stuff works itself out and is explained with a false imaginary system called "karma". for example, he seems to firmly believe that because i'm an asshole on here sometimes (specifically to him), i had a life threatning wreck and a future life of troubles from it as my karma driven consequence. it has nothing to do with the guy running a stop sign. i'll bet that guy sure would have liked to know about that karma on me before he went out that night! or, maybe he had some bad karma too. or, maybe karma employees other people to do its dirty work! who knows? sumfoo1? fortunately, those of us living outside his magical world made of dreams and rainbows know that such a laughable thing does not control anything or even exist. at best, it's just a word that makes weak people like him feel better to know they can blame their problems and life on something rather than man up, accept responsibility, and deaal with things like the rest of us. i am curious about one thing though, what horrible thing did he do to deserve a dui? hmmm... maybe he'll tell us. ooh, i've got it! maybe he got dui for being an asshole on here too! so, would that make tww like the karma "god" or something? that also means some of the rest of you better watch the fuck out, and the chit chat people are doooomed!

okay, i know i've rambled, but in short before i shut up i'm just simply trying to say i believe there needs to be some discretion between the guy that just bought a new bike, is a very alert and skilled rider, and wants to test out the bike's high speed handling and enjoy it from time to time as road conditions allow and the guy that every time he gets on a bike is going 100+ down the highway in heavy traffic, doing a wheelie, blaring motley crue's kickstart my heart on his ipod, drinking a 40, smoking a blunt, and doing lines off the handlebars all at the same time.

i'll poke around as i have time on the lane splitting stuff and post up some references. i read some very good articles about it a couple of years ago after it got my interest from a recent california trip. hopefully i can re find those. i'm sure you could easily run some searches yourself and bring up plenty of relevant info also.

P.s. I'll be in Raleigh next week if you'd like to make me the 2nd twwer to get punched in the face but i warn you it won't go without retaliation.

Listen i'm sick of being trolled.

I'm also not getting arrested again especially over something as stupid as an internet foe. You don't scare me at all... the cops and the other 10+ people you show up with that is what scares me.

To be honest there is no good way this is gonna end you're gonna call me a pussy if i don't set something up but honestly whats the point in fighting a keyboard jockey?

The whole thing is stupid either leave me alone or come out to ruckus with drinking beer on your mind.
I really have no idea what your problem with me is or why you have it you've always been the one to initiate the shit talking... i just don't let it go when you do.

All this is is one big
