"Fantasy Stud of the Week: Philip Rivers

I never was a Rivers fan, but he is saving my season and setting secondaries ablaze. Who would have figured he would have thrown 306 and 3 tuddies (with no INTs) against the New England defense? It's not like the absence of that handsome scamp Tom Brady should have made the defense that much worse.

There are Chargers and there are Super Chargers. Super Chargers are the types of warriors that songs are written about. Rivers is of the latter.

Fantasy Dud of the Week: Eli Manning

Eli reaffirmed his position as the lesser of the brothers Manning by tossing away a gimme win on Monday night. His three interceptions cost the reigning champs a win over the struggling Browns. What's embarrassing is he threw those three interceptions to players you have probably never heard of. More embarrassing yet, I started Eli over Philip Rivers.

Real Life Stud of the Week: Mario Williams

Mario Williams is not just showing the world that he was worth that first pick overall and all that money, but is slowly convincing pundits that he is the best end in football. He had two sacks and fumble forced and helped his Texans get their first win. Mario Williams eats good quarterbacks and craps out David Carrs.

Real Life Dud of the Week: Cedric Benson

Yeah, I said "Cedric Benson"! He rushed for a paltry six yards against a painfully so-so Jets defense. His team really could have used a spark from the running game and he disappointed in typical Benson fashion. His eternal rival, Thomas Jones, helped the Jets destroy Benson's Bengals with three touchdowns.

And yes, I will continue to beat this dead horse until there is no horse left

- Marvin Benjamin

John McCargo just failed his physical with the Colts, thus voiding the trade between the Bills and the Colts.

I was told it's because he has a ruptured disk in his back.

I just read this section on ESPN recently. Bill Williamson AFC blogger responded to a question from someone:

Quote :
"What are the Chiefs chances on getting Bill Cower if King Carl is finally fired.

BW: I could see it happening if the Chiefs fire Peterson, yes. Cowher has ties to Kansas City and it would be a dramatic move that the Chiefs could use. It could be a fine fit if the Chiefs decide to make a move."

I find it kind of ironic in relation to this thread if he landed with the Chiefs who have quite a few NCSU alum.

^ what's even more ironic is that he'd probably get rid of most of them because they aren't very good NFL players. Maybe he'd keep Tank, but Morgan, AJ Davis (practice squad), Hoyte, Rumph, and Thomas might all be out as he over-hauled the team.

McCargo is a true first round bust. Can't even get playing time now and then he fails a physical voiding a trade he desperately wanted.

He did, served some suspension time, signed with Green Bay last year, and went back this year.

Tulloch was a one-man wrecking crew today!

Could have missed it somewhere...but Mario Williams had another sack. Still think he's around 3 sacks behind the league leader.

He's got 8 on the year.

Joey friggin Porter is leading the league with something like 11.5.

Hauschka handling long kicks

Kicker Steven Hauschka nailed a 54-yard field goal during the second quarter of the Week 10 game against the Texans. It was the first field goal attempt of his career. He is also handling kickoffs.
Our View: We're fine with him handling kickoffs, but it's disappointing for Matt Stover owners to see Hauschka also working on 50-plus field goals.

Nice Hauschka blurb in cnnsi.com:

Quote :
"

• Baltimore's secret weapon is Steven Hauschka. Who is he, and what was he doing kicking a 54-yard, second-quarter field goal for the Ravens in their win at Houston?

He's the Ravens' rookie kickoff specialist and was given a shot at a long field goal attempt that's well beyond Matt Stover's range. Not a bad first career NFL field goal effort for the former N.C. State product."

Rivers didn't have a good game, though. He thew a couple of bad interceptions and his passes were fluttering in an excessively windy game in San Diego. The wind was blowing around 25 mph for the game.

For the year, he is still leading the league in passer rating and touchdowns, although Warner may leapfrog him in passer rating with a big day against the 9ers tonight. The schedule gets tough over the next 3 weeks, with Pittsburgh, Indy and Atlanta. If they can win 2 out of 3, they'll probably win the division and squeak into the playoffs. If they lose 2 or all 3, Denver probably takes it.

I think he turned around to look, and was like, "oh, he's still got the ball, might as well go sack his ass"

hes so fast off the ball. Willie Young is that fast off the ball during late 4th quarters when we know teams are having to pass. But Mario is FAST off the ball EVERY down

Mario is such a monster. My gf and I were watching the game last night, and after one of his sacks the cameraman decided to dickride him for a bit. My gf said "...yeah... I'm real sorry you had to try and block him. I bet he raped you."

It's true

even when he was here, there were games he would disappear, but he ALWAYS showed up for the big games... its tough for ends have great stat games week in and week out, he just seems to kick it into that extra gear when its a bigger game.
