the fact of the matter is that he didnt even try to figure out what the hell was going on before he assaulted your friend.


im sure you made it obvious that the guy was your best friend, so there should be an assumed level of trust.


a simple standing up and pushing the guy away from you to sort things out would have been standard practice, and if your friend didnt explain himself well enough then he could be justified to hit him.


i doubt he knocked you out of your chair either. I could wail on the back of your head with a bat and you probably would remain seated.

i doubt you were referring to me, but for "tough guy" purposes, i'm 6'1" and a pretty solid 215. no super tough UFC fighter dude, but can certainly protect myself and my girlfriend. also, i've seen plenty of "scrawny" dudes (meaning like under like 5'8 or 175 or so) land a good shot and drop people (only a few times have i seen someone get knocked out COLD, but once you drop someone to the ground, it's gonna be over) -- so i wouldn't rule out ANYONE (even on tww) who is instinctively trying to protect a female. don't think it's completely a scrawny/big thing.

but i agree on the slap thing, to some degree... if my girlfriend came to me and said that some guy slapped her, then i would certainly be having a talk with that guy, and i would do everything in my power to put the fear of god in him. then i'd have her call the police and get him locked up on an "assault on a female" charge. that's gonna hurt him worse than me trying to fight him like some redneck fool. doesn't mean at all that i don't respect her.

if i see it happening, however, then i will do everything in my power to lay him out, i don't care how big he is. that's instinct, and that comes from respect. anything premeditated comes from a lack of self-control and poor judgment.

This was a fucked up situation in general... First off why did you best friend tell yoiu not to let the guy you are dating stay over? Thats red flag number 1. Obivously the guy you are dating is not comfortable with how much contact you have with your bff (the biting? honestly it IS weird). I think you need to evaluate your relationship with your bff. i just feel that it's very important to be able to understand the full scope of the situation -- meaning that you have to be able to know when and when it won't help the situation by attacking someone physically. in the heat of the moment, sure thing. if it's 2 days, or even 2 hours later, it's not going to stop what happened... so if you're trying to prove a point/make someone regret something, your best bet is using the police. being a convicted woman beater is infinitely worse than getting a black eye, and it lasts a lot longer as well.

anyone who fights for revenge proves themselves as 1) violent and assaultive, 2) unable to remain calm and rational when confronted when angry, 3) vengeful

and i really don't think that's the kind of quality women should be looking for. in fact, those 3 things pretty much characterize the kind of guy who would hit a girl in the first place.

do you "stand up and fight for the girl" types out there at least agree on that part?
