I'm still trying to set up a good strat for the finale for No Mercy. Thus far, the best one I've tried is having all 4 players jammed under the long ramp that leads up to the helipad. There's only one entrance to it, so you have the front 2 shooting toward the entrance and the back 2 shooting out the side/back (you can shoot through the ramp too). All 4 with shotties in order to drop the tank without getting touched. The only problem though is the wave that comes with the helicopter. It's pretty hard to be out from under the ramp by the time it arrives, but according to the guy I was with, it is possible.

What do you guys do?

hah well one kinda lame strategy that worked in No Mercy finale was to have everyone with auto-shottys get inside the closet of the first floor of the radio room, that way you're relatively safe from smokers and everything gets bottlenecked into that doorway so a shotgun blast devastates. The only catch is as soon as a tank shows up all bets are off and you have to run outside and take it down.

Rinse and repeat and when the chopper comes along with the final wave + tank just lob some pipe bombs and blast your way to the ramp....

is that the first level?

when I played with Fareako, i posted up on a rooftop that's to the left of the unsafe house, and he posted on top of the house. a npc came with me and one was with him. we were pretty safe from assaults, until i ran out of ammo and had to venture back to the ammo pile during a lull in combat...of course, that didn't last for long and i almost died as I got mobbed

I was able to get back though, and there was a stash of molotov's that I could chuck. During the final run, we all sprinted off the rooftops and up the ramp, tossing molotovs behind us. It was epic, but it was only on like, normal difficulty. All 4 survivors lived though.

hah most strategies don't really apply on Normal, that was pretty cake the one time I played a finale on normal, but definitely good for your first time thorough a 'movie' or if you just want to mess around or are drunk

I've tried the closet strategy quite a bit, and while it is great for fighting all of the waves and specials, I have not found a great way to take down the tank, let alone 2 tanks, using this strategy. Inevitably, people always die on the first tank, making the second wave and tank exceptionally harder.

Everyone stand on the roof and just shoot at shit. The Assault Rifle can be reloaded WHILE melee'ing zombies, so hit reload, melee the hell out of everything, and fire four seconds later.

God, we're talking expert difficulty. And yes, I know how to melee while reloading. It doesn't change the fact that the tank will rape at least 1 of your team before the next wave.

Also, my ramp strategy finally worked. Survived with 3 people. The 4th person only died due to friendly fire from a shotgun at point blank range. The trick was to save a couple of pipe bombs for running out to the helicopter.

Auto-shottie rips through tanks like cake. It's automatic, but if you fire it like a semi-auto, it fires faster... so if the tank's on you, run around corners, otherwise rip into it. 5 or so clips of it on expert will take out a tank.

i played this game far too long today.

I'm starting to really like versus mode a lot.

almost beat the something toll level on expert, but everyone started leaving at the finale.....

i mean one guy on the mini and three on top of the car protecting, or everybody on the car

you have to protect each other and communicate, and don't bunch up for tanks

let me rephrase. tf2 is all fine and dandy, unless you try to play it on 360. it was too late in the cycle i think. that said left 4 dead was simultaneously released and i much prefer console games for simplicity's sake and my comp blows.

1) use my laptop for most activities cuz i dont want to be confined to the desk.

2) only play maybe one or two games a year on pc now that im done with mmo's. makes the investment a poor one.

the lifetime of the game? on the consoles probably 3 months till the next batch or ritalin...err, games...comes out for the ADD crowd to play

on the PC, this game could have a long ass lifespan. i still play mods to counterstrike:source (like zombie mod, surfing, etc) and that game came out something like 4 years ago. valve has a very open mind when it comes to giving modders access to do anything they want to games, and this they stay fresh...especially multiplayer aspects

you could build a $400 computer and run this shit on high across the board

played through a blood harvest campaign that had the biggest dick of a director ever. constant hordes, tanks showing up right at the start of a few scenes, witches is the worst fucking places, and a general lack of pills and molotovs. shit on the final scene, we had 5 hordes, a tank, and a witch all before we even made it to the corn fields. 3 of us survived to the arrival of the APC, 2 of us got in and the tank killed the other guy on the fucking ramp

shrug, i gave it up a few years ago and dont mind. i dont really like real time strategy that much and im done with mmo's. played cod4 and halo3 no problems. the only thing u guys have a point on is the online community for things like CS or TF2.

You PC elitests are making me lol and :carlface: . Sure, the PC version will have a lot longer lifetime. You too can still be jerking off to Counter Strike however many years after the fact.

No, simply being on a console will not make it worthless. When is the last time you people have played an FPS on console? There is nothing wrong with it. Maybe you can't use the $120 laser mouse + Tactical OMFG Pwnage Precision Mouse pad for atomic-pixel level aiming, and if you have a problem with that....yeah. You've played Halo and COD already, so you're not allergic to FPS on consoles like a UNC fag at a red neck party.

The fact of the matter is, the game is fun. Do you have friends to play with? You can have a friend over and play co-op, and you can play on Live with other people to have a mad house of fun. If you have no friends, go work on that, and save the $40 and just play the Counter Strike mods.

Honestly, the only game I can not see playing on a console right now is Jedi Outcast/Academy, due to the intricate controls necessary for light saber combat. FPS are worthless on consoles? Please.

True, most if not all console FPS have auto aim anyway. Once you get close to a target it just pops into place and tracks it. Halo was always a big example of this. Trying to make up for the lack of control. Also whenever i play/watch FPS on consoles it's always jerky and not very fluid, whereas on a PC it's a lot more enjoyable to watch, and playing is much more fluid. Not to say i don't like console FPS, but they were kind of designed for a mouse.

Yeah, you sound like the typical PC circle jerker too. The 360 game isn't worthless just because they won't be able to download mods that will allow them to fight zombies in a Vader TIE fighter cockpit as it bears down on Skywalker at the Deathstar, only to have the entire map be spun out of control when the Falcon shoots it off course (which is another map entirely).

I'll be getting the console so I can play with my roommates and be shouting at them in the same room. Yeah, you can do that at a LAN, but fuck it, I just live.

Actually 3 or my roommates all have l4d in my apartment on PC and we still talk and yell between rooms just like in a lan party, but even if not it's got a plenty capable voice chat so you're not losing that much by not being in the same room. And good luck trying to play versus on splitscreen, the element of surprise, which is everything, would be nil unless you all stayed on the same team

we'll just say each platform has its distinct advantages and disadvantages

we've actually resorted to not attacking as infected at times just to let them get far enough they won't all rage quit.
