i dunno, when i was little if i was out somewhere where the national anthem was being played with my mom she would tell me to put my hand on my heart...i seldom do it nowadays, and in the big scheme of things its not really important, but plenty of people do think its important...if you put your hand on your heart its basically respecting your country, and the people who do think its important would obviously want the potential leader of the country to do it

again its not a huge issue, but its a retarded PR blunder

^ DO you realize that the hand/heart thing was a VERY long time ago? And in that time period, Obama has pretty much always been ahead of McCain, by an average of about 7 points at one point?

And Obama has been very slowly gaining back his lead the past couple of days, now 2 points up from a low of 1.4 7 days ago. So that has been a gain of about .1 points per day for the past week.

So it certainly would have helped him because we would be discussing this dumb issue, but there's no real evidence that it has hurt him meaningfully.
