the loss this week to sampadoria certainly hurt milan's chances to take the 2 spot from juventus...but fear not jtmoney, the future is bright...there will no doubt be a changing of guard at the san siro soon, hopefully gourcuff and paloschi can lock down a permanent spot on the squad to combine with kaka, bonera, pato and company. they have a lot of talent in the youth system, but hopefully they will hit the transfer market more than usual

i know nothing about soccer, so what's the difference between the Premiere League and the Champions League, and why do some of the same teams play in both?

^Premier League is English teams only. Champions League is European teams that finished top-4 in their respective national leagues

^^ the top teams from all the leagues in Europe compete in Champions League, for the title of best club team in Europe not just their own domestic league

Juve's fucked.

Madrid didn't even fucking show up - poor effort.

Bayern is burying Sporting Lisbon, but they will get demolished in the next round, whoever they face (unless its Villareal/Panathinaikos)

Madrid looked terrible today, their age is catching up to them

Liverpool follows their MO good in cup play, unable to capture glory in the Premiership

Chelsea should have won 3-2, Drogba should have had 2 goals but the ref didn't allow it. Chelsea may not catch ManU but they still have a shot at the FA Cup and Champions League.

Bayern-Munich wins their tie 12-1 on aggregate, man Sporting Lisbon how did they make it through.

The problem with this statement is that Madrid's players aren't old.

Their back line is the perfect age, when players really start to hit their stride. If you look across the board at Real's players, you see what should be the perfect mix of youth and experience.

The oldest first teamers are Canavarro at 35, Salgado (who doesnt play) at 33, RVN and Guti at 32, Raul at 31, and Gabby Heinze at 30 - the median age of the rest of the squad is something like 23-24. That's 6 players out of 28.

Compare that to say - AC Milan, who has 14 players out of 31 in the first team squad who are 30+.

Madrid's problem is not age. It may have been a few years ago, but the problems at the Bernabeu now stem from having 5 managers in the span of 5 years, and not one of them who has been able to instill a consistent system or style of play.

That sucked about Nedved, he's a favorite of mine and I was rooting for Juventus. Their first goal was one of the prettiest I have seen in a long time. The Premier League is probably higher-quality than the Serie A, but from what I've seen, the Italians score sweeter goals.

I'm definitely pulling for Roma tomorrow, mainly because I don't want to see four fucking English clubs in the quarter-finals, like last year...it take some of the luster out of international competition when Liverpool play Arsenal in the quarter-finals and Chelsea in the semi-finals, and then Chelsea play Man U in the final.

yeah but I'm used to the English clubs...for me it's more about seeing clubs from other leagues than seeing players from other countries...God knows the Premier League has plenty of that, as you say

the italian teams are starting to get like that too..the top ones at least. im not even sure inter will start more than 3 italians tomorrow(today)

besides the top english clubs play a more visually pleasing style. the italian clubs play techinical and slow. and everytime i try to watch them on fsc i find myself changing the channel after 5-10 minutes from boredom. it feels like im watching an mls game when i watch an italian game.

That and I can't stand that guy who seems to be calling all of the Italian games on FSC. The one that accents every other syllable and draws words out twice as long as they need to be. I've watched a couple of games on mute before.

^^ it's a secret

^ MLS actually can have some entertaining games, its just that most of the ones they show on ESPN end up being boring

of course EPL games are super awesome to guys on here because everybody is a Top 4 fan, so when you're watching some of the best teams in Europe, it's going to be awesome. Get into the bottom 3rd of the table, and the games are just as boring as MLS some times
