I'm an ECU fan and I'm around all year. I work for state though, so I don't hate state or anything. I think the fans are strange, but that's about it

I'm hoping this is a good game and that the tailgating is fun and friendly like it was the last time you guys are in town. The only thing I really have against ECU is one friend I have who is the biggest asshole about ECU football and won't let go of them beating us 2 years ago. Even when I give ECU props for it, he keeps going and tells me i'm taking the easy way out. I think I just assumed all ECU fans had this crazy little-man complex, but for the most part all the other ECU fans i've talked to are much more knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the rivalry.

I just really like how both sides get kinda riled up about the game. makes for an awesome sporting atmosphere, but when the tards (on both sides) take it too far, then it sucks a bit.

should be a very charged up game though.

Since when did ECU become our superbowl? Nobody even wants to play the team that takes all of our recruits that cant get into school here or at any other acc/sec school. Name one recruiting battle we've lost to the Pirates where grades or a criminal record wasn't an issue?


I just mention this because I keep reading comments at the end of news articles with ECU fans saying that they are our superbowl. Thats a pretty high statement to make about themselves, considering we don't even want to play them. (for the record, I wouldn't have a problem with a state/ecu rivalry if it was a level playing field...but we all know its not...and its not just a non or partial qualifier issue. Its the fact that they take OUR academic casualties, beat us, and think they are legit)

Pack gets new tarp
Football field safe from downpours

An eagerly awaited delivery arrived at Carter-Finley Stadium at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning -- a new tarp for N.C. State's football field.
It's silver on one side and white on the other, which apparently are standard colors for football tarps.

Athletic director Lee Fowler said N.C. State paid about $16,000 for the tarp. He said that's less than the $18,000 to $20,000 a tarp typically would cost.

The tarp was made for the Kansas City Chiefs, who apparently decided it wasn't needed after the tarp was ordered from sports surface protection experts Covermaster Inc. So N.C. State got the tarp at a discount.

N.C. State will follow the NFL protocol and cover the field any time at least one inch of rain is in the forecast in the 48 hours before kickoff.

Two weeks ago, N.C. State officials had to improvise and use two baseball tarps to cover the field before the home opener against William & Mary as Tropical Storm Hanna dumped more than five inches of rain in Raleigh.

Ray Brincefield, N.C. State's assistant athletic director for outdoor facilities, said that worked fine, but a tarp designed strictly for football will be more convenient.

"We're doing everything in our power for our student-athletes," Brincefield said. "... We're trying to make sure every time they step on the field it's the same."

Brincefield plans to continue using the tarp even if N.C. State builds a new field that drains better than the current surface. Fowler said N.C. State is pursuing plans to raise money for a $1 million project to build a new field.
