if only they had Ryan Parrish in that lineup they would probably be able to come back from the dead and attempt to claw their way back atop my favorites list of current bands. They held the top spot at one point until ryan parrish left the band. but yes i like where their new stuff is going

so how is everyone feeling about the new Animal Collective?

"Summertime Clothes" is genius but I like this album about as much as I like their other favorite's of mine. But no second coming of Christ as some predicted.

I like Summertime Clothes and Bluish a LOT.

I also think it's awesome how pretty much everyone is naming different tracks as their <3'd ones.

Yeah. Some people that work for me were all like OMG TEH ANIMAL COLLECTIVES ARE AT THE POUR HORSE and I was like "Um, no they aren't. I don't know anything about this, but no, they aren't."

Really random here, but does anyone have the Pipettes' set from the Pohoda Festival in '07? It was posted in the Music of 2007 thread but all the links are dead, as is the hard drive that has my copy on it .

This shocks you?

Animal Collective could rape cats in a tin can, record it, then send Pitchfork the album caked in a turd and they would give it 9+.

That's no knock on AC, but pitchfork's a bit obsessed with them.

^^^ good track. I enjoyed their show at the 506 last year so I hope they'll make another appearance although I wish they'd bring someone who plays violin since so many of their songs incorporate strings.

"Phil Lynott once so eloquently said "The boys are back in town", and never before have those words felt more accurate than now – for us at least. Every once in a while we surface to share our music and shed some light in an otherwise bleak reality. And that time is soon upon us, Ladies & Gents. Our third installment, called "Junior", will be out on the 23rd of March 2009.

Sounds self centered and pompous, you say? Yes indeed! We're so confident because this time around we've worked with the likes of Robyn and Lykke Li, as well as old time friends Anneli Drecker and Karin Dreijer - hence our enthusiasm!"

Karin Dreijer back on vocals ftw

Any fans of codeseven in here? If you are, you probably already knew about telescreen featuring members of codeseven and classic case. Great band that will probably have a new album out this year.

BUT, I think a lot less people have listened to the other band that the codeseven split sparked. All the guitarists, bass, and drums went to telescreen, but the vocalist went to a band called Sundrone. If you liked Codeseven at all you will almost definitely like Sundrone. If you havent listened to any of the bands Ive mentioned I would highly suggest checking Sundrone out if you are a fan of stuff like radiohead, portishead, teamsleep etc.

http://www.myspace.com/sundrone

They should have a full length out this year.
