I don't hold any grudges towards Amato...he DID help us upgrade our facilities and he recruited the ACC's first ever player to be selected 1st overall in the NFL draft...his discipline was shitty, but he was still the coach when we won 11 games in one season

he also recruited Nate Irving, didn't he?

2 good recruits does not make up for seasons of failures and all the other horrible recruits he made.

he recruited more than just Mario and Irving...we consistently went bowling...we never really got blown out by anyone until his last year...when we started finishing around and below .500 and had no offense it was time for him to go, but don't act like he never did anything good for the program

He did do some good things for the program, but he did a lot worse for it then he did good.

If Doeren comes out next year in red shade Oakleys then we'll know what Amato's impact was today.

never realized how much Doeren looks like a young TOB. Not so much face, but shape, posture, whiteness

NC State- Cancer Coach U

Quote :
"He then went about three weeks without working out and, by then, the cumulative effect of the radiation, made him so tired he couldn't sit and read a book without dozing off, a frustrating but necessary part of the recovery. On April 15, he got the good news in a CAT Scan.

"I'll never be afraid of income tax day again," he said in his same old gravelly voice. "It's a day of celebration when they tell you everything looks great.""

I too still heart Chuck. I was ready for him to be fired. But looking back we probably didn't improve our profile much after he left. Oh well.

I think his lack of continuity with assistants was his main downfall. Accompanied with subpar offensive recruiting. Glad to hear his cancer is under control!

Inability to consistently keep his OC/DC and other assistant coaches was a huge issue, and the struggle to find a QB post Rivers. He was strong recruiting and great at building excitement with fans and donors and needed to then lean on his assistants to do more of the X's and O's and just didn't seem like we could get those coaches in place, or keep them around.

He did some great stuff while he was here, and had a lot of really big wins. Not sure why he gets dumped on so much, he sorta hit his peak and it was time to move on but overall he left the program in better shape than when he got here.
