Don't bother with stores if you're looking for TVs, folks. The "deals" aren't worth it. If you have a computer (which you do, unless someone printed this post out and handed it to you), take your ass online and shop there.

^ I always heard that the sales after Christmas these days aren't as good because they know people are going into the stores to do exchanges and gift card purchases, so they're going to buy something regardless.

I have no idea if that is true, I just know it was definitely true in the store I worked in at Crabtree.

I can't imagine that is a hot gift item

When do the newspaper ads come out? Wednesday or Thursday?

If you like the modern looks of clothes from H&M, Hugo Boss, Zara, United Colors of Benetton, etc. I'd recommend taking a trip down to Benetton at Southpoint today, they are starting their sale early:

20% off if you buy 2 items
...
50% off if you buy 5 items.

Great deal.

^^I am thinking about buying 5 of these to cover gifts for my parents, her parents, my grandparents, and both sets of her grandparents and then preloading them with pictures. My D40 pictures are all under 1.5 megs, so I should be able to get 80-90 pictures loaded on this thing.

Only other Black Friday thing I'm doing is staying up till midnight to get the 8" Portable DVD player from Wal-Mart, and the car kit for $10. That should have me covered for most of our big presents.

I'm hardly finding anything worth going after on a limited budget. Aside from flash drives, toys for kids 'in' the family, and some shirts to give... I'm not getting up at 4.

Fortunately, I have what I need and I'm not going to be spoiled this year. And I just got a kayak as a graduation/Christmas gift.

I got the 5 frames from Buy.com Thursday night. Woke up at 3 am and ordered the portable DVD player and car case for about $73 shipped and taxed, and then ordered Animal Crossing: City Folk with the Wii Speak bundled on Amazon for $39.00 with free shipping. I was done shopping and in bed again by 3:30. Now thats what I call Black Friday shopping.

Anybody seen any good deals on car head units on the cheap for today? I need to get one for my wifes car. Her main requirements are that it play CDs and have an Aux input for plugging her mp3 player and my XM Inno into. I've found these two, but don't know which one is the best option.

The first is from Crutchfield:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113MP208/Kenwood-KDC-MP208.html?tp=5684&wm=cl&s=0
I will have to install myself, but this comes with a pair of Kenwood speakers to replace the back pair and all of the harnesses and shit for free.

The other deal is CC:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-Car-Stereo-CDXGT420IP/sem/rpsm/oid/190705/catOid/-13088/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
Basically just a shitty Sony Xplod, but it has free install. I'm guessing they will charge me for the wiring harness, kit, etc. or does that come with the free install?

no offense, but this reminds me of another reason i would hate marriage. i don't want things like washers and dryers and mops and stuff like that for my presents!!!! i mean it kinda goes the other way too....but men usually like power tools and stuff like that that is sort of similar that they can get.

anyways...i woke up to a giant panasonic 42inch plasma tv in our living room. go parents!! i didn't think they'd ever give in

You aren't married. That's what my wife wants too. When you get married and have kids you'll spend more time in the laundry room than in front of a TV.

And buying presents while married sucks.... I don't want my wife buying me stuff with my money that I could buy for myself. Bah Humbug

thats why my wife and i keep separate checking accounts for stuff like that. we pool most of it for the mortage and bills, and keep a little each month so we can actually buy a present and have it mean something

^^ yea but my mom wants stuff like that because she NEEDS it therefore she wants it. not because she actually wants it or gets any kind of pleasure out of it whatsoever. it just reiterates her role in this awesome world.

le sigh. marriage and i are staying far far away (no offense).

Yeah, we're just getting something thoughtful for each other. I am making a shadowbox thing with stuff our son used to wear, his first haircut pics, etc. Michael's had 25% off everything.

As far as a deal, Linens and Things had 30% off everything plus another 20% off of that price. Got a Dyson Ball Vacuum for $216 plus tax.

^ see THAT is cute. i mean i see how some stuff is necessary but it just sucks that it has to be given as a christmas or birthday gift (both ways, even though i get that those holidays are good times to make big purchases). i used to give my mom stuff for the house for her birthday, then i realized that it was kind of sucky. so now i just go with thoughtful. it is way better even if it is small

You automatically assumed that was some kind of present for her for christmas or something.

She gets what I consider to be great presents for Christmas, etc...

This was because we need a new washer/dryer with the increase in our wash load as of late.

Even so though, if she had said "i want a washer and dryer for christmas", I would have gotten her this as her Christmas present.

I don't see the difference in her wanting a nicer washer/dryer to make doing laundry easier, versus me wanting a new power drill to make doing my jobs around the house easier.

yes. yes it was.

the only reason i assumed it was a present is because you said you bought it for your wife.

their was a fight over Xbox 360 at a Florida WalMart..lol
http://www.wavw.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=244038&article=4651903

I went with my mom at 7am this morning to Smithfield from Kinston. We stopped at the WalMart in Goldsboro for a while. She got me the Megallan 1412 GPS for $147. That will be all Im getting for christmas. That's all I wanted anyway.

Afterwards, we left for Smithfield. It was crowded but not too crowded. I guess the majority of the shopping crowd came at Midnight. We got some good deals there.

I went to the midnight sale at the Tanger Outlets in Myrtle Beach (would never have normally done this...but my mom was bitching about us having a "day" together before I went back to Charleston Friday afternoon).

But it fucking paid off. The sales they had were ridiculous. I've been hurting for some "lawyer clothes"...and most of the stores were starting everything at 50% off then adding additional 15-30% off reductions to that. I got some $120+ shoes for $40 and $50. Got a $200 briefcase for $65. If I hadn't already gotten a couple suits a few weeks before...then I would have really stocked up.

Wasn't exactly the most pleasant experience...but as far as money saving goes, it was definitely well worth it.

I would use a GPS if I was going on disc golf trips to areas that I don't frequently go. Plus sometimes it is easier(especially when traffic is bad) to be able to find alternate routes when you are in an area that you aren't familiar with.

^^ I have to admit, I didn't understand GPS either until I rented a car that had it. They come standard in all cars in Japan and it's pretty sweet. If you're in a city you know nothing about, you can simply enter the telephone number of where you're going and it gets you there. Much nicer than having to constantly pull over and check a map, especially here where there aren't street names posted.
