The secret service deemed they were no threat to the president. The secret service has absolutely nothing to say regarding whether a crime was committed beyond that. You are misreading the news reports about this. The "limits" they breached, if you actually read and try to comprehend the words I wrote, were in the "context" of the university. And you CAN'T really walk around saying nigger, because in certain places, that would be construed as disturbing the peace, which you CAN be arrested for. And you DEFINITELY can't do this on a university campus (hence "context of the university") without suffering some consequences. If you lived in a dorm, for example, and walked around calling people niggers, you could easily get kicked out of the dorm.

You also neglect that even in The Real World™ free speech has its limits.

My take on this whole thing is that those idiots deserved what happened to them. I expect the university had a fairly severe punishment lined up for them, even if it wasn't expulsion. I also like that rallies were held to demonstrate that those messages didn't represent our university. But I think an expulsion is a step too far, the university has effectively demonstrated how it feels about hate speech in the free expression tunnel enough to deter another incident.

Having said all that, fuck the NAACP. They're more about stoking racial tension than advancing anybody, colored or not. And they say practically nothing when heinous black-on-black crimes occur, only white criminals feel any heat. They even squandered the 50% of the donations towards the Jena 6 case.
