there's only one part in the db that causes most of the trouble. i've got a way to fix it without causing another outage so i'm gonna try it tonight

yeah like i said, nothing is faster yet. the decent performance in the last 2 hours is just luck. however, real and permanent changes are in the works, so within the next couple weeks, all these problems should begin to go away. FOREVER.
