if i had to guess, i would say that he's trying to avoid last season's disaster when mccauley lost his minutes. but mccauley's feelings be damned, smith needs to do this every game.

tracy smith's defense sucks. against a team with any good post players he gets destroyed down low. we could afford to play him today, because it's towson.

with that said, the combo of smith and costner was awesome today. maybe he can work on his d, or learn by experience, because i would definitely like to see us try it more against some good teams. or maybe his offensive production offsets his weak d.

yeah Mays' first few games he looked like a deer in the headlights, but he has really improved pretty dramatically in so short a time, maybe a fast learner or just had a shaky start

Horner also played a good game. I think it is finally coming together for him. Lowe also finally got to play degand and mays at the same time which is something that I would like to see more of. I think that mays/javi playing point with degand at SG would be an interesting lineup to see more of. Mays might actually be starting at PG for us before too long. Smith won't see incredible amounts of playing time because he isn't very good on the boards.

horner looking good? he's a big reason we were behind the first half. during the full court press, he didn't look up to an open mccauley at all. we could have started the easy buckets much earlier if he had. after his ass sat on the bench a while, he did come out looking a bit better

No, smith WILL see more playing time because he'll learn how to use body positioning to play defense and box out. Keeping him on the bench should not be an option.

It really sucks that we don't have a 2 who can shoot. Fells and Costner are all we have. Wasn't Javi billed as a good shooter coming out?

degand was hitting 50% of his threes last year before he got injured. Playing both the guards would give us the ability to penetrate a little bit more which is something we desperately need. 10points 6 boards and 3 assists with only one turnover is a good line for horner.

shiiit. i dont want either degand or javi even trying to penetrate. it'd be great if they could, but they have both proven to be out of control on the dribble penetration (degand much more so than javi)


they need to get the ball up the court, then pass it to a scorer. Considering we are essentially playing down a man every posession on offense, it boggles my mind that tracy smith doesn't get more run.

Degand has been showing his ability to at least get fouled when he drives. He needs to work on finishing but I expect that will come to him with confidence. I would rather have him drive at SG than have an oversized fells play SG and try and drive on shorter quicker defenders.
