If its an able bodied girl my age, not including my fiance, no i generally am not going to automatically stand up to give them a seat on a bus. a pregnant lady, elderly lady, girl with a cast or crutches, etc. yes I normally always will. But I see no reason to automatically give up my seat simply because a girl gets on the bus when its already full. Now, if one asked me politely if they could sit (not in some pompous attitude along the lines of this article), I would almost always let them sit too.

I am not going to let a girl sit down if the reason is because she cant text and hold on at the same time.

In the sad, pathetic event that this article was actually serious...

I've got no problem offering a seat, holding doors... you name it. I open the car door for my girlfriend probably enough to make some people sick. However, I'd watch the girl that wrote that article struggle to send her precious text messages any day of the week from the comfort of my own seat. I have no patience or respect for anyone that selfish and ignorant.

Chivalry is for women; it's not something that's just given to an immature girl.

On the metro in D.C. early this week, it was so fucking packed that people didn't have anything to hold on to and instead relied on just leaning on each other. There was a pregnant woman and a crusty old black man packed in next to me. I had hold of a bar, but they didn't and couldn't reach any. I offered the straps of my bag for them to hold to steady themselves since there really wasn't another option. They were grateful.

Clearly I am an incredible human being.

I wouldn't offer the author of this column anything but a hearty "go fuck yourself" if she asked for my seat though.
