this is a pretty brutal scenario, then. The kind that would horrify anyone who witnessed it...There were witnesses, so what the heck would you do after you realized what was going on and it was too late?

is a concealed weapon allowed on campus?
1/23/2009 12:09:27 AM
^no. You are not allowed to carry on any state property (GS 14-269.4), state building (GS 14-415.11) or educational institution (GS 14-269.2), so they got you thrice.it's shit like this that makes me wish concealed carry permit holders were allowed to carry on college campuses. hell, even if you had to be registered with the university and take some other course on top of the standard cc course- it would still be worth it to be able to stop crazy shit like this.[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 12:12 AM. i highly doubt you would have been able to stop this even if you were cc'ingthis dude probably had her head off b4 95% of the room even realized what happened^^nope[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 12:11 AM. Reason : ^^]

^^yeah, it would be worth it until some lunatic with a concealed weapons permit lost his temper, pulled out his gun and shot 17 people[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 12:22 AM. Reason : /]

man, then what did he do? just sit there?I think I'm trying to piece this together too early.
1/23/2009 12:12:54 AM
well let's hope they have pieced the victim together at least
1/23/2009 12:13:29 AM
ok
1/23/2009 12:17:54 AM
^^^^ permit holders aren't too likely to commit gun crimes, according to my cc instructor and the dudes at PDHSC.http://mcgonigle.us/bill/blog/articles/2008/03/21/gun-crime-statisticshttp://www.justfacts.com/guncontrol.asp[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 12:19 AM. Reason : ^]

while I think they would know more than most, wouldn't they also be the first to say that permit holders don't attack the most as nonpermit? Also, what's the percentage there? I mean, if 1 out of 12 crimes are committed by permit holders and only 1 in 30 people are permit holders, wouldn't that negate everything?nm, i read the links... don't know how reliable, but more info than I could guess[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 12:21 AM. ^^okay, you're right

Straight from an RPD instructor:whenever a permit holder fires a weapon, no matter if it is justified or not, there is almost always going to be a civil suit by the victim's (the dude who got shot, regardless of whether he deserved it) family. the family could say something along the lines of:"well bob was going to kick that crack habit he has had for the last 12 years, get clean, and become a cardiologist, and now that he's dead because steve shot him, our family will never see any of that income, so steve should pay us what bob would have made as a cardiologist."although farfetched, some of that stuff gets through, and the permit holder, although justified in their actions, ends up with a manslaughter charge or soemthing equivalent.

we just had this discussion early today. So I'm assuming even if it is self defense if someone's got a cc permit they still get in trouble moreso than if they didn't (and they just used their hands or the other person's gun).
1/23/2009 12:27:31 AM
^^I don't know what that means.off topic?
1/23/2009 12:27:54 AM
^the whole CC on campus thing
1/23/2009 12:29:28 AM
as long as the permit holder wasn't carrying in a prohibited area; they used deadly force only to prevent imminent threat of death, great bodily harm, or sexual assault; a normal person would have done the same thing; they weren't the instigator of the hostile situation; and the force used was not excessive (emptying 2 magazines when the first 4 shots did the job), most DA's won't even let it get to trial.[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 12:32 AM. What is up with the azns at VT? And why didn't someone knock this fucker out before he severed her head?Yet another example of why we should be allowed to pack on campus.

I still don't know why everyone thinks that this could be accomplished in seconds.I could see the whole chopping someone's head off in maybe a minute if they are tied down flat on a table with their head stretched back, but we are talking about a free person who presumably had some idea that she was being attacked, even if he got a stroke on her neck from behind first, who was probably fighting and grabbing the knife blade, etc.Hopefully more details will emerge.PS - I hope that this isn't a new trend amongst stressed out Asians.
