They are probably going to open a nine hole loop (which nine holes still to be determined) within the next few weeks for the charter partners. The course will likely not open to the public until after the July 31 when Palmer is here for the opening ceremony. 7 and 18 are in bad shape and are being sodded right now, other than that the course is really shaping up nicely. The lady who gave us a tour yesterday compared the course to Pine Valley. If it is even half as nice as Pine Valley, then we are in for a treat. 6/3/2009 6:37:39 AM |

looks like the best deal in town is still the preserve at jordan lake ... (at least until this place gets the TLC it needs, and time).
Guess I had better plan on playing it next season instead. 6/3/2009 1:53:28 PM |

^^ That layout is a good depiction of the overall course, but a lot has changed since it was rendered. 2 and 8 are in different locations now, there is no water on 3, and there are a couple ponds on 15. 6/4/2009 1:15:46 PM |

Along the same lines, I wish the GoogleMaps satellite imagery would hurry up and update so I could map out the course for the "myCaddie" app for the iPhone. For anyone with an iPhone that golfs, it's a free app that is effing awesome and the (3) times i've used it it's been dead nuts accurate.6/4/2009 5:04:37 PM |

I don't know about this course in particular, but the vast majority do not want the public on their property if they have not paid to be on it. I could imagine campus police being dicks to those getting caught. 6/8/2009 10:41:03 AM |

The course is open to the public as of today 7/13/09.
The Range is and hass been for a few weeks open to the public.
I played it Saturday and Sunday...challenging layout that is a lot of fun to play. It is in decent shape for as young as it is...It will be very, very nice after a couple of growing seasons to mature the warm and cold season grasses. 7/13/2009 4:37:01 PM |

^^yes all 18 are open, 7 and 18 fairways are still pretty bad, but it won't really impact your round

18 and 7 have started to green up with the rain and sprinkler aided watering. They really aren't in that bad of shape anymore. There are still some patches that haven't taken very well but overall it probably in as good of shape as if its winter. 7/15/2009 4:58:50 PM |

played yesterday. tee time at 5. finished at 9. twilight rate=$35. a steal for that course. Greens roll better than any course I've played. Very visually stimulating and quite challenging.
Most interesting play imo is the monster par 4 3rd followed by the drivable par 4 4th.
3rd-Plays roughly 501 from whites to a dogleg left. Huge trap guarding the corner; maybe 270is to carry. second/third shot to an elevated green.
4th-- Plays roughly 290 from the whites; begs you to go for it but the green is protected by trees on three sides, so anything errant is nearly impossible. 7/16/2009 3:28:13 PM |
