ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that rumors are running rampant that Brett Favre could join the Vikings as soon as today. Several sources are claiming that Vikings' owner Zygi Wilf has sent his plane to Mississippi to pick up Favre and that he and his wife are on their way to Minnesota to sign a one-year contract worth $12 million.

It looks like there is something major brewing in Minnesota. We will continue to follow the story closely, and we will update the situation as soon as we hear anything.

$12 million? What a waste of money. Rosenfels/Jackson aren't good but neither is Favre anymore.

If you were Sage or T.J., you should feel lucky to have a job in the League

Eagles and Vikings, now the most played teams in Madden

it will make them pretty darn good of a team, especially having Sage as a decent backup.

they can no longer try and stack 7 against AP and not have to worry about it zipping over their head. Throw in Percy Harvin and its an interesting offense.

NFL Network ticker is all Favre, all the time right now: "Live Favre Coverage Beginning at 12:50PM ET on NFL Network"

Not a press conference, not a first snap at camp, just a bunch of guys talking on and on about 30 seconds worth of knowledge.

"According to multiple media reports, Brett Favre will sign with the Minnesota Vikings today pending he passes a physical.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen says Favre will sign a two-year contract, reportedly between $10 to $12 million.

Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed in an e-mail to The Associated Press Tuesday morning that Favre was traveling from Mississippi to meet with the team. Asked by the AP if the plan was to sign Favre on Tuesday, Childress replied: "In a perfect world."

WCCO-TV in Minneapolis broke the news of the veteran quarterback signing early Tuesday morning.

WISN-TV reported a plane with a Minnesota Vikings logo on the tail left Mississippi and was headed toward Minneapolis.

The Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport's administrative office told WISN-TV that Brett and Deanna Favre were aboard the plane.

"He doesn't like training camp," 12 News Sports Director Dan Needles said.
Yesterday, FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer reported it was his belief that Favre would play for the Vikings in 2009.

Favre announced on July 28 that he would stay retired. He told ESPN's Ed Werder: "It was the hardest decision I've ever made. I didn't feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable." "

More news on the Brett Favre saga, as the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Favre is expected to practice with the team on Tuesday and he is also expected to start the team's next preseason game Friday against Kansas City.

Favre is somewhat familiar with the offense the Vikings run, so it isn't completely outrageous that he could start on Friday. The team was scheduled to practice at 1:30 pm today, but that time may be pushed back to allow Favre to participate. Expect plenty more Favre news over the next few hours.

___________

Updating a previous report, Bus Cook, the agent of Brett Favre, confirmed to USA Today that Favre will be signing with the Vikings. "It's a done deal," Cook said. "He thinks he still has something left in the tank and I think it will work well."

Well that's pretty definitive. Favre is on his way to Minneapolis, and it looks like he could get the deal finalized as soon as this evening. The two sides reportedly negotiated deep into Monday night, and it looks like the deal is worth somewhere between $10-$12 million for one season. Favre should be considered as a QB 2 in most leagues, but he could provide some solid production with weapons like Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian, Sidney Rice, and, of course, Adrian Peterson.

wow, what an attention whore. If I was a Vikings player I'd be pissed.. He conveniently missed training camp and plays by his own fucking rules. Mike Vick was getting too much sportscenter attention, Favre couldn't have that.

Prepare for the crying spectacle when he retires again before coming back, never gets old.

just for closure:

The Minnesota Vikings' official website is confirming that the team has signed Brett Favre. Terms of the deal were not disclosed at the announcement, but it is believed to be either a one- or two-year deal worth between $10 and $12 million per year.

Well this is rumor and speculation no longer. Favre is officially a Viking, and reports are that he is already at practice with the team. He needs all the snaps he can get, because he is expected to be the team's starter Friday night against Kansas City.

rock bottom moment nov. 1st. the packers are just lucky as hell they got a decent QB or this would be REAL drama. you cant build a franchise with a 40 year old man. no wonder the vikings suck year in and year out.

I think it's good for the game....at least he isn't some street POS trying to tell everybody he has reformed from his bad ways like that POS Vick.....All Favre wants to do is play some ball...but I do hope the packers beat him 100 - 0 :-)
