09/05/09 vs. Western Kentucky
09/26/09 vs. Ohio
10/31/09 vs. South Carolina
11/07/09 vs. Memphis
11/14/09 at Mississippi
11/21/09 vs. Vanderbilt
11/28/09 at Kentucky

i fail to see how any of those games comprise a "bitch of a schedule". the best team out of those last year was a 9-4 ole miss, and everyone else was mediocre

^^ yeah, I didnt even dignify that with a response at the time... you know since they won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP after Manning.

^ obviously not on that level, but they arent on a Western Kentucky level either. They are good enough to beat any team in the SEC if they dont play a good game.

naw, south carolina shouldnt be a bowl team. they have no clueee who their QB will be at this point. i recall them having some serious issues recently with players transferring & or being kicked off the team.

Beecher is gone, Smelley is gone, RB Mike Davis is gone, Sidney Rice is gone. Stephen Garcia (who was awful) is going to have to be the starting QB and will be backed up by 2 RS Freshman.

their best TE is gone to the draft also.

best player they have there is WLB Eric Norwood who will be a senior.

there's no way they go to a bowl game. they play @NCST, @Georgia, Ole Miss, Kentucky, @ Bama, @ UT, @ Arkansas, Florida, and Clemson.

I'm glad Brown didn't sign with Miami but UT isn't much better since they play UNC in 2011 and 2012. He and Kiffin will get along well.

damn, kids got a lot to live up to...

Quote :
"Brown first appeared on Rivals.com's radar in June 2006. That's when he and his older brother, Arthur, attended a camp at Oklahoma. The brothers were so gifted they easily stood out among the other 200 campers at the event, but it was Bryce who really caught everybody's eye.

"Even next to his older and bigger brother, you couldn't help but notice his athleticism," said SoonerScoop.com associate editor Josh McCuistion, who was there at the Sooner camp and first entered him into the Rivals.com recruiting database.

Bryce Brown's first carry as a freshman in high school went for 55 yards.
"He made diving catches, had great moves and speed that was well beyond most kids his age. You knew if he put the work in, he was a guy who had a chance to be special."

It wasn't long before Bryce emerged as one of the nation's top prospects - even though he was an underclassmen. As a junior he racked up 1,873 yards and 29 touchdowns and was already beginning to draw comparisons to Barry Sanders, the most legendary football player to ever come out of Wichita.

"Wichita is well-known for being the hometown of Barry Sanders, but the fact is that Barry did not play running back at Wichita North until his senior season," said Chris Allison, the host of "The Gameplan" on Sports Radio KGSO 1410 AM in Wichita.

"Bryce developed much quicker, and we as fans were able to watch him run the ball for four years. His first carry as a freshman was for 55 yards – and only the end zone stopped him. He accelerates better than any high school running back that I've seen. Bryce was a better high school player than Barry Sanders, but will he live up to Barry's NFL success? Not many have. But if Bryce continues to work hard and is a good team player at Tennessee, he will certainly be given the opportunity to run the ball on Sundays."

By the time he announced for Tennessee, Rivals.com had published more than 135 content items on Brown. The only player to have more items published about him in Rivals.com history was Terrelle Pryor, the No. 1 prospect in the 2008 class who was also a star basketball recruit.

If there was anybody who was worthy of all the attention, it was Brown.

"He is so good, and he plays running back, a fairly easy position to adjust to in college," Rivals.com analyst Barry Every said. "No player should have a more immediate impact in college than Brown. We also think he could have the most lasting impact. He is the leading rusher in Wichita history – he even had more yards than Barry Sanders – and he comes up big in big games like the U.S Army game, when he was named the MVP.

"He reminds me of Ronnie Brown, the current Miami Dolphins and former Auburn Tigers star. He has great overall size, above-average speed and excellent hands. Add that to great vision and a willingness to block, and you have a five-tool, every-down back." "

"Among the highlights of Kiffin’s Q&A:

- Kiffin said Bryce Brown, the nation’s No. 1 recruit according to Rivals.com, is the best high school tailback he and recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron have seen since Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush, who the two helped recruit to Southern California.

“This guy is so exciting,” Kiffin said. “I’m not saying he’s Reggie, but there’s a lot of comparisons.”

- Kiffin also said Brown, who signed with UT earlier this month, has helped the staff create inroads with other national prospects.

“It’s really helped us nationally to get in the boat with some guys, Some guys that would have been harder just to get on campus are saying now we want that to be one of our five visits. It’s huge.”

- The Vols have installed about half of their offense through six practices. Kiffin hopes to have about 80 percent installed by the end of spring with the remaining 20 percent to go in during fall camp.

- Kiffin said true freshman defensive tackle Montori Hughes has had an “unbelievable spring” and called him the “surprise of camp.”

- UT’s defensive staff spent seven hours rewatching tape of Saturday’s practice, Kiffin said, even after he had given his coaches the day off.

“We actually beat him (the defense) one time in practice,” Kiffin joked to reporters after speaking, “and I don’t think the defensive staff got to sleep that night.”

- Kiffin again praised tailback Montario Hardesty and quarterback Jonathan Crompton for their performance this spring."

" KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee has filled its 2010 schedule with a home opener against UT-Martin, marking the Volunteers' first game against a lower tier NCAA opponent in 27 years.

The Ohio Valley Conference Skyhawks, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA, come to Knoxville on Sept. 4. The last time the Vols played a Division 1-AA team was 1983, when they beat The Citadel 45-6 in Memphis.

Tennessee is the last member of the Southeastern Conference since league expansion in 1992 to schedule a FCS opponent.

The rest of the 2010 schedule has the Vols at home against Oregon, Florida, UAB, Alabama, Mississippi and Kentucky, and on the road at LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Memphis and Vanderbilt. "

not sure if they are still D-2, or just a D-1 subdivision.

"Creer leaves Vols, will 'go in different direction'

By Dave Hooker (Contact)

A growing backfield lost a competitor when tailback Lennon Creer decided to leave Tennessee’s football team.

“Lennon is no longer with us,” coach Lane Kiffin announced following Thursday’s practice. “He’s decided that he doesn’t want to be a part of the program anymore and he’s going to go in a different direction so we wish him the best of luck.”

Kiffin said the junior from Tatum, Texas, plans to finish the spring semester before finding enrolling elsewhere.

“Hopefully he finishes the semester well academically so he’ll be able to transfer somewhere,” Kiffin said.

A former high school track standout, Creer’s speed and 5.3-yard per carry average in 2008 had many thinking that he could be a long-distance threat this season.

With senior Montario Hardesty as the most experienced returning tailback, Creer struggled to outperform sophomore Tauren Poole this spring.

“I think he’s done really well in the system,” Kiffin said of Poole. “He’s really been a one cut runner. That has really helped him.

“This system is kind of designed for a guy like him. We don’t know how much long speed he has but we know that he’s very quick.”

Even freshman Toney Williams, who enrolled at UT in January, has drawn more praise from UT’s coaches than Creer.

“Toney is a little bit bigger - has really been extremely physical,” Kiffin said of the 6-foot, 218-pounder. “For a guy who’s really a senior in high school right now, (he) has come in and attacked the defensive ends in some drills and shown a lot of toughness.”

UT also has two highly rated tailbacks - Bryce Brown and David Oku - set to enroll this summer."

I liked Creer... but its a really crowded backfield

speaking of which, the running game looked good in today's scrimmage... especially Toney Williams. I saw him play a game in HS (from near Atlanta) and he really impressed me, supposed to be a good guy too although hes gotten lost with all the Bryce Brown, Oku hype

Senior safety Demetrice Morley did not attend Saturday's scrimmage in Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Morley's absence, but declined to give specifics as to why Morley missed the scrimmage.

"There's something came up this morning," Kiffin said. "I'll be able you guys more about it Tuesday, but I've got to have a conversation with him before I tell you guys.""

Jaybee... you said you have season tickets... me and Biofreak70 are going to the home opener on Sept. 5th. tickets will go on sale to the public pretty soon. I have been to many games and sat in various sections. what are your opinions on where someone should sit for their first game in Neyland??

I never said I had season tickets... I cant make it back to enough games to be worth it (yet). But I am going back to that game and might have some tickets lined up. All seats are pretty good, but I guess the only thing I would avoid is having your back to the jumbotron if at all possible but even thats not a huge deal.
