i know molina is playing well but has cooled off, hernandez is supposed to be good though

speaking of catchers, Victor Martinez is back in the lineup tonight at DH for the Tribe...looks like that ball he hit off his knee on Saturday wasn't too serious

hope you guys played V-Mart if you had the option (unless you have multiple catchers you might not have another choice on this short day)

he was about 10' from going yard in his first at bat, and proceeded to hit a solo HR of Joba in his 2nd at bat...looks like the knee is fine

haha thanks Edinson Volquez. I knew there was a reason I didn't bother pulling you off the DL.

pitched an inning in his first game back, had back pain and pinky-finger-numbness.

Should I trade Matt Cain to get Jamie Shields? Cain is hot but I think Shields might be better long term.

So I play in a 16 team keeper league. I took over a team last year who was in last place and finished in 8th. Now this year I started off great and was hovering between 1st and 3rd but I've dropped to 8th over the last couple weeks. I've been dominating R's, HR's and RBI's but I'm 15th in SB's, 14th in AVG (I was 1st in average for a while ), 7th in W's, 9th in SV's, 6th in K's, 10th in ERA, 12th in WHIP.

The problem is right now I'm in 8th again and I don't know what to do. I feel like once my pitching comes together (I still am waiting on Webb to get back) I might be able to make a nice run at 1st. But my team as a whole is pretty old, I don't know who I would be keeping next year. Should I give up and start shooting for draft picks/young talent for next year? Here is my team:

C: Brandon Inge
1b: Carlos Pena
2b: Chase Utley
3b: Jorge Cantu
SS: Ryan Theriot
OF: Damon, Dye, Ludwick
Util: Maggs
BN: Adam Kennedy, Matt LaPorta, Carlos Gonzalez

SP: Josh Johnson, Edwin Jackson, Randy Wells, Scott Feldman, Jeff Niemann, Brandon Webb
RP: Joel Hanrahan, Brad Ziegler, Carlos Marmol, David Aardsma

We keep 6 keepers and a can keep a 7th who is still considered a rookie. I'm hoping to keep LaPorta that way.

So do I pull the trigger on a deal in which I get A-rod (and Randy Wolf or another SP) for Ryan Braun (OF-Mil) and Adam Wrainwright (P-StL) in a regular Yahoo league?

Or should I negotiate something else?

^^ I think your season is still salvageable, but you are really going to need some pitching. If I were you I'd do both of the following:

1) Try and trade Inge...his numbers look great right now but you can tell he's already started to tail off, and there's definitely no way he'll keep this pace all year. I would say right now is the highest his stock will be for the rest of the season. Someone in your league is probably looking for help at catcher.

2) Drop Ziegler and Hanrahan, they are essentially worthless at this point and doing more damage to your numbers than most other middle relievers will do. Go scour the waiver wire and pick up a couple young pitchers with high ceilings. If everyone else has 2-4 closers you might want to consider punting saves...if you go this route you could get something decent for Aardsma.

Also keep a close on on Randy Wells. He's been good, but there's nothing special about him...ride his hot streak out but be ready to cut. Same with Feldman, but he gets a bit longer leash. I'm a Rangers fan and I truly want to believe Nolan has turned their pitching around, but I'm not completely sold yet, plus now is when the heat really sets in there.

^^If you can afford to lose Wainwright then do it. Randy Wolf is not going to help your staff much.

I got offered Alfonso Soriano and Magglio Ordonez for Dan Uggla and Carlos Lee. I already have Brandon Philips. Should I do this?

Halladay was still on the board when I drafted Brandon Webb

I got Frank Francisco in the 21st round, thats probably my best value pick

Also I got Victor Martinez as probably the 6th or 7th catcher drafted

I'm keeping him because he's going to drop off but it's still way better than most catchers that would be available anyways. I also like the fact he can play 3B and OF as well. I mean, I guess it's worth it if you can trade him to somebody that doesn't know shit about fantasy baseball but who is really going to give up value for Inge?

I just traded McCann and Lilly for Konerko and Mauer. Delgado was my primary 1B so Konerko will fit in nicely. And Mauer is.. Mauer.

as awful as uggla has been (although i think he's been doing better), this would be a bad trade IMO. lee is hitting for average AND power, whereas maggs only has 2 homers and soriano is hitting .240. if he'd take uggla for either one, then that might be ok, but i wouldn't deal lee

^^^The thing is, Inge gives you very little in terms of either way you go with the season. If you want to contend this year than you are going to need pitching. Who is going to give up value for him? No idea, maybe someone who really needs a catcher, or someone who likes him. I'm not saying trade him for magic beans, I'm just saying see if anyone has any interest, you might be able to get a decent SP or RP for him.

And if you are thinking about next year, you aren't going to keep him. Next year he'll lose C eligibility and then becomes just an average 3B again.

Ehh I would go with Porcello. Marquis pitches for Colorado and has proven in the past that he sucks. Sanchez is wild at times and inconsistent. I think Porcello has the highest ceiling for this season.

Ahaha... I had TWO players play last night -- Braun and Sandoval.

In my h2h league check out my offensive stats:

6 R, 6 H, 1 3B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 1 SB, .600/.636/1.700

LOL, my OPS was 2.336

Trade Advice:

GET:
Greinke

LOSE:
Morneau

Basically, I have too many position players and I am low on pitching depth. I could really use a top notch SP, but do I give up one of (if not my best) power player?

With Bartlett coming back off the DL, I needed to drop someone... and an IF at that really.

I ended up dropping Clint Barmes. He is hot right now, but he is also Clint Barmes. Should I of cut Bartlett instead?

Just a note to anyone out there looking for a 3B. Mark Reynolds seems to get almost no love from anyone. Here is the CBS Sportsline latest blurb:

"Fantasy Analysis
You are really going to have to get used to taking the good with the bad when it comes to Reynolds, who has four homers and 10 RBI in his last five games. He is going to strikeout a lot, but he is also one of the better power-hitting third basemen in the majors. Reynolds still passes as a viable Fantasy option because of his power potential."

After looking through the list of trades he's been involved in nobody is valuing him like they should.

The guy leads all 3B with 18 HR and is 3rd on the list with 13 SB. He's on pace to hit 44 HR with 32 SB! If you can find someone in your league who doesn't think he's that great I'd start talking to him. At the moment, his numbers make him the most valuable 3B in rotisserie play. Above Wright, above Longoria, above ARod.

Quote :
"Fri, Jun 19
Webb's setback during a throwing session has cast doubt on whether he'll return to the mound for Arizona this season, the Arizona Republic reports.
Recommendation: "He didn't feel very good," manager A.J. Hinch said. "So it's a bad sign for us. We were so positive about where he was in his rehabilitation. He'll have to get further tests and see our doctors." We'll have to wait and see if further tests determine that surgery or extensive rest is required to get Webb healthy again, but the odds of him getting back around the All-Star break appear to be very slim now."

fuck is it time to give up on Webb? i've had him on the DL for months, might as well give it another week or something...fuck

Better shortstop rest of the year Alexei Ramirez or Troy Tulowitzki? I'm leaning Ramirez.

Better pitcher rest of the year Cole Hamels or Chad Billingsley? I'm thinking Chad with the Dodgers getting Manny back.

yeah i'm so stacked at people who can play 1st (Victor, Lance, Derek, Pablo, Mark) that I need to do something

The only positive is if somehow Victor, Lance and A-Rod all go out for the year, I could just plug in Pablo, Derek and Mark

I had Brandon Webb but gave up on him last week..I've been offering people for pitching but haven't gotten any bites...Meche is on the FA list...glad I didn't play him Sunday though lol

Jimenez was my only starting pitcher with less than 8 Ks

^^Aaron Hill's not gonna hit 40 HRs. He'll cool off in the second half, and be an ok player. Kinsler should keep it right about where he is and Texas will only be getting better with Hamilton coming back. Johan's hit a little rough patch recently, but assuming the Mets players are gonna be getting healthy pretty soon, and he's not hurt or anything... I'd take it.
