Is it better to shoot a bball around for 30 minutes or jog for 8 minutes b/c jogging is much more tiring and harder to do but shooting around the bball is perpetual motion for longer but its much easier and I don't get very tired.

i'd say do something that you enjoy doing. It's a lot easier to stay active if you enjoy the activity you are partaking in. As long as you are doing something that keeps you moving and your heart rate up, it should help.

yeah if you like basketball, do that. bring a stopwatch or a watch with a second hand and take your heartrate periodically. find your target heart rate here: http://www.dietandfitnessresources.co.uk/fitness_exercise/heart_rate_chart_m.htm

you might find you need to take a couple laps around the court to get your heart rate up sufficiently. I try to take aerobics classes because having someone tell me what to do is mindless and easier, but my gym keeps moving the classes to inconvenient times. when i cant i start off on the treadmill for 20 or 30 minutes and then make a circuit through the arm bike on strength training, regular bike, stair step and the elliptical if im feeling adventurous. I've been having some problems with my feet and knees so i have to take it easy on them. I want to add in some weight training and isometric floor exercises next, but ive been having a little trouble fitting all that time into my schedule at the moment.
