I wouldn't off myself over an 18 month sentence unless I was terminally ill and on short time, but I understand why he did it. If he figured he only had a year or two left, why go to prison?

I don't intend to ever do anything that would send me to prison for a long haul, so it should never be an issue, but I can tell you with a pretty good degree of certainty that I'd never rot away in prison. I'd either make it to a country with no extradition to the U.S., get gunned down in the process, or off myself.

I have friends that have lived in Cuba and my aunt used to work for the us government and go their all the time.
