I still enjoy some "gutter" hip-hop (AKA Rap) like TI or Lil Wayne, but I think there are still some solid lyrical hip-hop artists making good records. Common comes to mind along with Lupe Fiasco. It's refreshing to hear rhymes when they're not constantly about fuckin bitches, gettin money, and bustin caps

"there were these things called poems before rap... all rap/hiphop/whatever is, is a fucking poem (a really really bad one most of the time) set to a sample of someone elses music...

shit they use vocoders and auto-pitch now so much any fat slob can do it...

freestyling takes some talent. the majority of everything else in that entire genere does not really"

This is so ignorant that I can only assume it's some second rate trolling.

The only thing about rap that entertains me now is Eminem... Still funny as ever... but I think about the time I went to college in 2001 was when rap started to blow chunks. Rap was pretty awesome about the mid 90s as everyone said.

Now I hear that shit thumpin in my apartment parking lot and wish those people who play it would fall off the earth. Its horrible now... Would much rather listen to Blue Grass... and I am not really a fan...

Wayne and TI are both currently leaving their rap routes. Both can be good rappers, but "Whatever You Like" and "Lollipop" point to them moving pretty far from rap.

I'm really curious as to what kind of music Mulva listens to

i dont know when rap went down hill...late 90s? basically when it went from hip hop to hip pop and all of a sudden everything was more about image than talent...but that kinda describes how all music has gone down hill
