HAH
just owned some guy who was using Sentinel-Cable-Doom
apparently the key to getting a match is to just create a match 8/2/2009 8:05:51 AM |

damn, that sucks
I've been pretty satisfied with my playing. I haven't been "beaten" yet, since i either win the match or it disconnects, although one match I was getting my ass handed to me by some guy with Magneto, Storm, and Cyclops.
I've beaten teams with the usual combos of Sentinel, Magneto, Storm, Cyclops, and Cable probably because I just put them on their heels right off the bat and they can't recover easily.
[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 11:57 PM. Reason : of course, the disconnect counts it as a loss for me ] 8/6/2009 11:56:32 PM |

^^ I use Guile, Sentinel, Felicia. Not a traditional team, but I can hang with the magneto, cable, storms of the world unless they're really good. Sitting at about 55-25 all time. 8/8/2009 11:01:54 AM |

For all the talk about Storm being so good, I have yet to see her in a single match. Jill Valentine, though, I still see in about 3 out of every 5 matches. 8/9/2009 11:48:58 PM |

I've been running Rogue, Gambit, Captain Commando. I need to step my game up with Gambit and Commando though been trying to learn cancellations. Managed to learn how to combo into Rogue's Super, which then leads into chain hyper combos with Gambit and Commando. Need to do the same with the other two now.
Anyone know what cancellation is anyway? I've sometimes been able to go from Commando's Captain Corridor (down to back - HP/LP) and immediately chain Captain Sword (down to forward - HP+LP) for an unblockable HC, but I'm pretty inconsistent. I'm fairly certain you can do it for Gambit's Kinetic Card (down to forward - HP/LP) into Royal Flush (down to forward - HP+LP) as well, but I'm not fast enough to react to a successful Kinetic Card hit
I've been able to cancel into Rogue's super via her charging punch attack (dunno what its called) pretty consistently though

Cool. I'd be impressed to see a good Rogue.
I have also been able to chain the Captain Collider into the Captain Sword, but I agree that it doesn't always work. 8/10/2009 4:54:34 PM |

I think you need to be pretty good to use Storm effectively. Most of her good traits come from being able to diagonally dash and her "Ice Storm" super (good for cancelling and chip damage). In all the tournament matches I've seen they did her air combo into two of her lightning dashes (LK + HP) and then finished with a Maelstrom (HCF+ PP). That requires a lot of dexterity, more than most players have. 8/13/2009 3:59:46 PM |

OK, riddle me this: how does one go about getting one of their assist characters to ALWAYS appear behind their opponent, no matter where they are on the screen? I saw a guy do this with Psylocke yesterday, and it was the damndest thing. I could stand on one edge and he on the other, he'd call her out with the anti-air attack, and she'd swat me from behind even though I had nowhere to go backwards. 9/21/2009 10:18:19 PM |

that's just psylocke's assist, it hits you from in front and then behind, its one of the main reasons that people use her in high tier play. Other than that, I use Doom's anti air assist similarly, he will be throwing out rocks and I will jump over them while they are blocking and its a free cross up.

Well, I know she has a super high priority anti-air assist (which is why I use her ), but what I mean is that she would literally appear behind my character even if I was all the way across the screen from my opponent. I've played this enough to know that sometimes assist characters will crossup while you're in motion and in a particular proximity to your opponent, but this was every time without fail - me in one corner and him in the other and neither of us advancing or retreating. It was just amazing. I played this guy 5 times (not counting spectating others who played him), and he probably did it consistently 100 times in a half hour. Psylocke would just barely appear off the edge of the screen, knock me off of my guard, and then the guy would swoop in and do some huge combo. 9/22/2009 5:59:58 PM |
